Montoya isn't a bad teacher, but she isn't a great one either. I did learn Spanish, but it was mostly straight out of the textbook and class itself was very boring. She's the sort of teacher you don't realize was bad until you've had a better one. I recommend taking Spanish with a native speaker if you really want to learn.

This has been my favorite Spanish class yet. This is college; you have to do your reading and homework and then come to class to expand on it. Sra. Montoya does an awesome job at explaining concepts of the language so you're not just memorizing words. Yes, she does get annoyed if you don't pay attention and ask question that have answered.

I really enjoy this class. You, however, will not enjoy this class if you are lazy, immature, unwilling to work, or feel that you are entitled to good grades simply because you show up. Do you want an easy A? This class is not for you. Do you have another class that requires a lot of time and study? You may not want to take this class concurrently

She is very fast. Speakers full fast Spanish basically all class. She doesn't explain much and skipped the basics. She has no interest in helping and gets annoyed if you ask questions. I would not recommend this teacher

If you have taken Spanish 1 twice before like I did, be patient with this class and you can get an A. Repetition is bueno! If you are starting off and trying to learn spanish & really don't know much DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER!She speaks in full spanish starting the first day & has quiet and attitude towards struggling student. I made it its possible

Terrible. She missed 4 classes in the beginning and spent the rest of the semester rushing to make up for it. We haven't done any speaking in class - all writing. She doesn't use the $200 text set, just a free website. Learned more from that than anything else. Waste of time & money. She just needs to retire. Oh & she stinks of cigarettes. Ugh.

Don't take this class. I am an A student and I got a B . . . It's intense, there's LOTS of online stuff to do and not very much support. Lectures don't often pertain to the homework, she leaves you to figure out a lot of it by yourself. She's a decent person, but not a very good teacher.

I loved learning the spanish language until I got to this class. She misses alot of class and expects you to never miss a day. She plays favortism to people who are grandparents. She is not a very nice person anymore and is way past her prime in teaching. This class is an online class you show up twice a week to take tests. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!!

Worst professor i have ever had at the JC. She is a disgrace to staff and makes me want to never learn Spanish.I do not recommend her at all and she just needs to retire as she has no interest in teaching or showing up for that matter.

You will learn how to write in very well in this class. Less emphasis is placed on speaking. She is very organized and has you prepare your binder in a way that is really helpful. I wish there was more oral activities in the class. I really liked the class and feel I am well prepared for Spanish 2

Not everything horrible about this class can be blamed on the professor- the textbook is overpriced, poorly designed, and generally unhelpful, and the accompanying website is a joke. Unfortunately it's the main tool she uses for teaching the class. I would highly suggest that students pair up to split the cost, and just photocopy the exercises.

She reminds me of a teacher that once loved her job, but now just wants to do the absolute minimum until retirement. I would not recommend this class to students w/o prior experience in Spanish. It is fast paced & covers too much material for the time alloted to study. I end up cramming before each test to get an A, but not retaining the info.

She is a great teacher in my opinion. You earn the grade you deserve. There is no time for slacking off so don't sign up and waist her time and expect to get a good grade. Don't listen to all the bad comments they are just mad that they suck at spanish
