Comment:

Carol had a very interesting teaching method. The only two grades you received were the midterm and final exam. She gave you some extra credit opportunities. The lectures were boring but she was funny and few times. Only reason I got an A was because I memorized the terms and paintings. I did not open my book one time!

Comment:

I took art appreciation 1035. She is a nice person, let me say that first. Sometimes she can be funny. However, my class was never cancelled, even for a day. Half the class is her teaching you about art you dont need to know for the only two tests you have during the year, and the hardest struggle of the entire class is trying to stay awake.

The only reason you wont pass if you do not show up is because she takes 2 points off your grade every class you miss. There isnt a reason for this class due to the fact that we can read the book and get enough information to pass the exam. She goes way to fast making this class not fun at all. Id rather someone cover less art but go into detail

Comment:

Do not recommend taking this professor, the only grades in the class are the midterm and the final. Te final consists of memorizing 87 pieces of artwork and you have to know the artists, time period, media/medium, and era for each piece. Lectures are in a dark lecture hall and her voice is very monotone. Attendance is required to get a good grade!

She's a nice lady, and I think she really cares about the art that she's teaching, but as a teacher, don't take her. She seems like she would be fantastic to get to know in another way, but her teaching isn't very good and be prepared for monotonous lectures almost every class. If you're crazy into art, then maybe this is a class for you. O

There are only 2 tests. 1st one isn't too hard to study for, but the second one you should start studying 2-3 weeks in advance. You can get up to 7 points extra credit on your overall grade.(2 for perfect attendance and 5 for looking at art). You don't have to listen to lecture, so I would take this class if you had other hard classes to study for

Art appreciation was a horrendous class. She wasn't a bad professor but she only gives two tests - The first test wasn't bad, but the second test is ridiculously hard. Her lectures are also very boring and she gives very little extra credit. Take literally anyone else or take it another semester.

If you show up to class and study for the 2 tests, you will pass. Her lectures are boring, but a lot of students studied for other things or were on their phones/laptops. Attendance is very strict, but there are only two tests to be graded on. I found the first test very easy; the second was a little harder, but nothing unbearable. Take her.

Art appreciation was a terrible class. I didn't mind her as a teacher, but her grades consisted of 2 tests. The first test wasn't bad, but the second test is just knowing literally everything about over 100 pieces of art. On top of that, her lectures were more than boring. If you have to take art appreciation don't take Ventura.

Dr Ventura is a good professor, her lectures can be boring if you aren't interested in the topic. There's only 2 tests and she doesn't post power points. Also, her attendance policy is crazy, so going to class is EXTREMELY important. Besides that, the material is easy, so if you try at all then the class is a breeze.

Dr. Ventura was alright. I didn't pay attention to the lectures, but I still made 100's on both exams just by copying the vocabulary from the book (first exam). For the 2nd exam, you will be shown 80 art pieces and you will have to identify the artist's name and nationality , time period, location, style, and the period FOR EACH PIECE (MultChoice)

She does give out study guides plenty of time to study but it still shouldn't be as hard as it is since it's just an elective for most people. I would not take her again. You have opportunity to get up to 7 extra credits points added to your final grade, but there are only 2 tests and attendance is mandatory. Seems easy but becomes stressful.

Carol is an amazing instructor. Her lectures will be boring if you're not interested in art, but if you're not interested, then why are you taking this class? She gives bonus points for perfect attendance at the end of the semester, and she offers a ton of extra credit! I will definitely take her again.

Very interesting class, she has traveled all over the world and has her own slides. I took very few notes, just listened to the lecture and absorbed it all. I will take all her classes. I did not find Dr Ventura boring at all.

DON'T BUY THE TEXTBOOK! You can google the pictures and terms. Made an A with very little effort. Bring a charged laptop though because she's not very entertaining.
