This is the 2nd half of a fast paced algebra class at Clark College. Her teaching style is just doing problems out of the book, doesn't really take the time to explain how to do the problem fully. She just works it & moves on to the next problem. The 2nd time I took this class, with a different person, a lot of her students were there again.

Tests were graded harsh mess up one thing at you get a point taken off. quizzes were never given back in prompt time so those didn't help much. Group quizzes took about 4 hours to do outside of class, not including the do it yourself portion plus the homework assignments. Rants on about pointless subjects that wastes learning time. Would not retake

She is very scattered which did not work with my learning style. A very nice woman, and does try really hard to help each student, will offer extra credit. Be ready for lengthy, non-linear lessons. She gives a lot of homework, but if you stay on top of it and get tutoring, you will be fine.

I did the homework spent hours in the tutor center, I even feel like I understood the math once the tutors helped me, but her tests are as confusing as her lectures and I couldn't make sense of the questions. This was an expensive class, everything I learned I taught myself. I spent hours upon hours studying for a C. Tutors are great, though.

She comes late to class everyday with a bag of Carl's Jr. Then she spends the first two hours of class going over homework and talking about herself while managing to still only go over two problems. She didn't give us back our first and second exam until a week before finals, so you're grade's always a surprise. She shouldn't be able to teach.

I hadn't taken a math class in 2 years, and I've never been so overwhelmed by a class. Very scattered, takes forever to grade tests, says you can correct the test but I don't see how she'll get the corrections graded by the end of the term. I went for attendance (wasted 5 hrsweek) and taught myself from the book. May as well have taken it online.

She hadn't taught 112 for a few years which was evident in her teaching. She would start teaching us something and realize she was doing it wrong. I spent most of my time learning from the book and online resources. We never got our 2nd exam back and the final had problems we hadn't even covered in class. The positive is that she is helpful.

Carolyn made it clear that she has a lot going on in her life and doesn't have time to prepare for class every week or grade quizzestests. She was admittedly "rusty" in course material- honestly not qualified to have taught this course. I used online resources to learn class material. I love math and this class was extremely disappointing.

Carolyn is amazing! Her teaching style propagates confidence in math and not just memorizing formulas but, practical knowledge. She shows an investment in her students that i have never witnessed from another professor. She focuses on understanding the topics more than meeting homework deadlines. I am taking MTH111 with her next term.

I took this class for the 2nd time with Carolyn, and went in with a lot of trepidation. She has made me love math. She's incredibly patient, makes herself very available for extra help, and doesn't put pressure on timeliness (ie, you can be late on homework because of taking time to learn it and still get full credit).

One of the hardest working teachers out there period. She makes herself available before and after class, and doesn't make a big deal about homework being turned in of time. Not only that, she is incredibly pleasant. I never want another math teacher ever again

Wonderful woman! Offers extra credit, wants you to succeed, helps before and after class, allows corrections on quizzes for partial points, and encourages group work. At times can get sidetracked but it's part of her charm and makes her a real and likeable person--she more than makes up for it by helping before and after class. Also she is funny!

I have had problems with math in the past. In Haynes class I am doing exceptionally well. Although I am really dedicated, this year half the class dropped. I would tell others not to take her class if you are passive about math.

Did not check to see if homework was done correctly, simply checked to see if it was done. Allowed a student to take the final exam two weeks after the term ended, and in doing so did not post grades when they should have been posted. She admitted that it was just "easier" to post grades all at once.

She was a very good teacher, some students don't like her just because they are lazy to do their exercises. Take her class if you serious to your study. Good rate for her.

She was very scattered, not enough teaching.Every day "AND if you don't know this...you shouldn't be in my class" Keep close eye on your own point total, she doesnt.I hav never been so overwhelemd with math.Marks exam quest wrong, even if the answer is right, says that solving was wrong.Bring other classes(diff level)into our class, waisting our time.

Professor Haynes is very forgiving in her grading and has a wealth of knowledge that only comes from teaching for decades. The best part is that she lets you correct tests and get partial credit back for mistakes!

If you need an easy A, take her. If you actually need to learn something, take someone else. She is way too scattered, takes most of the class time grading papers or finding stuff, and only spends about 1/2 hour teaching. There is a ton of extra credit, though, so it's nearly impossible to fail. If you're interested in learning look elsewhere.

If I had wanted to teach myself math I would have signed up for the web course. She wasted time with personal anecdotes, spent the first two hours of class rehashing week old homework with the weaker students in class and crammed two or three chapters worth of lecture into the last half hour of class time. It took her six weeks to return our first
