Comment:
I took Contemporary Writers at Work with Yalkut. One of the sweetest ladies ever. Very conversational. Good sense of humor and is very open to hearing the different opinions of her students. No tests just live author reports and a final project. Only thing is she is very disorganized and last minute with assigning homework which can be frustrating.

Very nice and does try to help students when they ask for it. She enjoys conversing outside of class about... almost anything. Starts off reasonable, but during finals week assigned two papers and a sudden 'topic approval' assignment. Unless you really enjoy Shakespeare or theatre in general, I would avoid taking class with her. Lots of writing!

I liked her, she is super smart and knows what she's talking about. Her class had no tests but a decent amount of writing, and her comments were helpful. I would take another class of hers.

Dr. Yalkut is one of the best professors I have had the honor to learn from. She is super smart, very helpful, a fair grader, and cares about her students. I hope to take more classes with her.

So let me say this--I don't mind a hard grader, or a stickler for attendance, or enduring mindless rants and bipolar quirks. What I do mind is someone who just simply doesn't care about other people. The class was okay, and the material was interesting enough, but she's somehow ruins the experience. Avoid it unless you're really into theatre.

Let it be known that she has an outrageous stutter and it is very distracting. She seems like a very intelligent professor, but the stutter hides it. She is a hard grader and is very demeaning and condescending. Comments assignments with stupid little characters instead of real words- can't read her handwriting either. A snotty b*tch really. :/

The class lacked any meaningful discussion. Her comments and answers tend to be unprofessional and demeaning. I left the class thinking how my time was wasted. Unproductive teaching methods for a higher level english course.

She is a joke and should be fired. She gave me an incomplete in a pass/fail class in which i completed all of the assignments and only one of them she thought was done poorly. She expects way too much from students and she has no idea what she is talking about. Her syllabus says nothing and is a total joke. Basically, shes dumb.

I had her for two classes, liked her very much. She LOVES discussions and if you do the reading you should be OK. Don't be afraid to speak up in class. A lot of writing, especially in 305 so be prepared. I had a prob outside of class and she was very helpful. She does stutter sometimes and can be distracting during lectures. She's pretty nice thoug

Excellent professor! She was a tough grader, but isn't that what we are there for, to learn? The reading and classroom discussions were engaging and well thought out. Her paper comments and suggestions have made me a better writer and student. I highly recommend taking a course with her.

I hated the class. Class discussions were boring and repetitive, with nothing ever REALLY being said. Assignments were't interesting and she was a tough grader. The only good thing was the plays she chose, which on their own were pretty interesting

I had Yalkut for American Drama and Literature of the City. She welcomes students' opinions and loves discussion. I learned a lot in her classes, even though a lot of the material was stuff that I read before.

Don't take this class with someone who will make you laugh. Everytime she stutters over the V-v-v-v-vagi-i-i-i-ina monologues you will somehow have to laugh...the whole class including Prof. Yalkut at times will laugh about it. She is nice, and tries to make material interesting. Biggest flaw is her inability to actually answer questions.

So she stutters, big deal. I found her to be intelligent, supportive and funny. Though, I was in a particularly talented, small class which I think she enjoyed.
