Yes, he is a tough grader but it is not impossible to get an A. I got an A both semesters but he made me work for it and he made me a better writer. He will try his best to help you as long as you put in the effort. If you're looking for an easy A, don't take his class.

Dr ser expects you to be a good writer and does not give you feedback He barely gives assignments ,therefore there is little chance for improvement and i feel like our grades depend on the first essay assigned I should have listened to the negative comments here i would have saved alot of time and money Im sorry but i regret taking Dr Ser

Prof ser is a good man and im sure he means well but he tends to be annoying , he barely gives assignments and when he does ,they are extremely difficult essays , i emailed him once asking him for help and to tell me his criteria and no reply i poured my heart out on the first essay and he gave me a D with no explanation

If you're looking for an easy A look elsewhere. Dr. Ser's class was the most intellectually stimulating, fun, and rigorous class I've ever taken at MDC. He's knowledgeable about the course material and is always willing to meet for feedback and help. Only reason I give him a 4 and not a 5 is because some of his papers were assigned last minute.

Dr. Ser was such a cool professor. He's really funny. But his class is really hard. His tests are all written essays and he is tough when it comes to grading them. His final is also a written essay. During the whole semester all we did was read science fiction, poems, and a play. There is also a research paper that is meant to be literary based.

You know those teachers that always want you to fill in the blank in their sentences? He spends 1/3 of the class doing that & once someone actually does answer, he just says something SIMILAR to what the student said. Prof Ser is rarely on time. He assigns work and doesn't tell you what he wants, which most of the time is very specific. Annoying.

Professor Ser generally wants you to do well in his class, but hes very unclear on what the course content is. At most times seems to create assignments/papers off the top of his head. Usually is late to class and just talks about his day rather than teaching english. Tough grader and very lost.

Ser's class is based on a ton of reading (DUH, its a literature class), 2 literary analysis essays, a midterm paper, and a final paper. No outline for any of the papers. EXTREMELY tough grader, dont expect to get an A. Took this class to help my GPA, didnt help at all. Unless you're a phenominal writer, don't take this class.

Not a good experience! He doesn't teach & completely goes off subject. Expects you to be an amazing writer without actually teaching you anything. Takes forever to grade papers & give a final grade, and don't expect to get above a "B". His impressions are not funny, and he often belittles students. Also makes many students uncomfortable

He's an amazing professor. There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that he prepared me for the rest of my college career. You can expect a lot of hard work, but he is there with you every step of the way. Participation matters with him.
