Comment:

Found her to be very unprofessional and disorganized. Midterms were very sloppy, missing questions, didn't finish sentences etc. Absolutely mandatory to go to class, exams are very lecture heavy. She is a a really hard marker, especially on little details that don't matter in the overall course. Stay away if you care about your GPA and sanity.

Although Catherine seems to be very knowledgeable about the course material, she is extremely dry. She will not post her Powerpoint sides, so it is crucial that you go to class. Her exams are quite difficult, averaging in the 60s. Additionally, she made multiple errors on exams (misnumbering, not finishing sentences... ) which was distracting.

Tests are ridiculous for the material. Should have been an interesting and enjoyable class but she makes everything painstaking. Short answer are always very difficult even after loads of studying because they are never what you expect based on class emphasis, usually just random things mentioned and worth about half of the test.

Comment:

Why would a partial distance ed class have a group project?! The only class where we had to get together with people who all had different schedules it was hard. Not the best idea. Postings on the discussion board was tedious (and boring). Nice person though.

Ignore the post that blames students for low marks it is wholly untrue.Teacher is very friendly, approachable and nice. Midterm was unfairly brutal, exam was much better.Just be prepared to study A LOT and do your posts on time, seriously boosts your mark. GA was great. Just beware this is not a course one takes for fun, take it if you NEED it!

The professor is very kind and approachable. However, I do not have nearly as nice things to say about this course. It is extremely interesting, yet at the same time, extremely difficult. I still can't quite figure out what I did wrong in this course. The midterm was tough, the presentation marking was harsh. Overall, I left this class depressed.

I have a full time load and am getting an A+ in the class going into the final. Low marks are at the fault of the student. Advice, be aware of deadlines and meet them, you won't have a problem. She is very responsive to students' needs and difficulties. A little slow on replying to emails, so don't wait till the last minute to ask a question.

You can 'get by' in this class and do okay. However, if you are an A+ student the sheer disorganization of this course will work to your disadvantage. I'd steer clear, it's chaotic. Exam questions were chosen from the test bank, and quite a few of them were nowhere to be found in the updated version of the text!!
