Comment:

Cathy took over our class in the middle of the semester and was a great instructor. She uses a unique grading system called Gradecraft and it is like an interactive gradebook. It may seem daunting, but she gives you lots of opportunities to revise work and get a better score.

Comment:

Very vague in all of the assignments, but honestly was a good thing. She doesn't grades grammar and lets you do rewrites. The class is a waste of time but sometimes she will give REALLY easy assignments in class for extra credit. Also cancels class a lot for extra credit assignments. She is also very understanding. Did not learn much but easy A!

Worst teacher I have met. She always said I can rewrite my assignments to get a better grade. However, I really if she revised or not. She never upload your grades. Do not believe her words that "you can get A" and " you can get extra credits if going to writing center". I went to writing center for three times. Then, what I get is nothing.

Favorite teacher freshman year! About 7 essays throughout the semester. Was a bit disorganized at times but even gave the entire class extra credit for staying, after arriving 10 min late. Gives you an idea of what your current grade will be during conferences (about 3). Let's you rewrite papers to improve your grade up till the end of the course.

The worst writing teacher I had ever seen. The grade she gave is very unfair, even though people from the writing center said I can get A. But she gave me C. And she changes her syllabus every week, so we never figure out what she wants to do. Just remember, never take her class if you want to graduate!

Really open minded and just allows you to write, truly grading on whether you understood the prompt or not, not so much grammar. Really really good class and professor.

Dr. Ryan is a phenomenal professor. She is always energetic in class. Her lectures are interesting and hilarious. She gives great one on one feedback and is understanding of the students' individual needs. The readings in the class are very interesting. The assignments are thought provoking but not too difficult to complete. Highly recommend her.

Easy Grader. Many small homework but they are doable. Very nice human being and very friendly. Don't skip class, you'll miss a lot. Very kind teacher. Always tries to help, but rarely does. She was always excited and very fun to listen to, but her directions are so very very vague. flexible with deadlines. Lets out early. cheap book.

Great, very easy teacher. Most people had to do long research papers for this class, most of our papers were fun topics and a page long, with the exception of a short research paper at the end about If Christopher Columbus was a hero or villain. Very easy to get an A as long as you just do what you are told.

Mrs. Ryan was a really nice teacher, and this class is easier than most freshman english courses. But, she is not clear about due dates and no one ever knew what the assignments actually were. You have to write a lot of papers but they are very short. Hard to get an A in this class unless you are really good at writing already

Honestly the best professor I have had in all of my academic life. Her one fault is that she can be somewhat vague and confusing when giving assignments, but, overall, the class and the grading system are very easy. I got so much out of this class, too. Not only did I learn basic english concepts but I gained qualities that I can utilize in life.

She tries, but is very unclear. I wouldn't recommend her if you're trying to really take something out of an intro english class.
