Took honors developmental, I'd highly recommend. I don't think there was a single person in my class that didn't get an A. She gets to know everyone on a personal level because there's only 15 people. Midterm is only worth 10% and you have a cheat sheet, final is take home and only worth 10% as well. A lot of research projects but very enjoyable!

Lecture material and textbook do not always coincide so going to class is highly recommended. Gives you a study guide - know it all. You'll never know what will be on the test. Gives plenty of extra credit. Got an A!

Nice lady but boring lectures. Does not cut down any material on study guide. Tests are easy, but she expects you to study for everything when you only need to know a fraction. Overall, she was an annoyance.

She is soooo smart and witty and clever and funny; her handwriting is really tiny; she's a true intellectual plus soooo cute and pert and sexy; I wish I had married her, but I blew it; her political views make sense if you care about children and the future and if you have half a brain, so they are not inappropriate in the class; I love this prof!

Like most psych classes, Developmental is absurdly easy by nature. Brownell is a decent teacher, and very passionate about the material. Her tests require you to really read the book; if you don't, you won't do well on the exams. Her lecture notes were sometimes disorganized but for the most part she's worth taking.

AWFUL TEACHER! Tests are hard, rarely contain material from lecture. MUST read the textbook thoroughly to do well.

I have to agree with the last comment. Overall, a pretty useless class. Classes didn't prepare you well for exams. You have to memorize the book, but she doesn't refer to the book much. Huge class size. One of those classes where you get screwed over on multiple choice exams, and the prof. could care less if you do well or not, you're just a number

I don't know why everyone thinks she's such a good professor. She wastes so much time on arbitrary examples and never finishes all of the notes. She's also extremely pretentious and rude during office hours. Take Strauss if you can. From what i hear, he's way nicer and his class is much easier.

Overall, it was a rather easy class. You have to read the book and attend lecture, though the majority of the test is from the book. She was very helpful, always willing to take questions after class. She also gives a ton of extra credit, can boost your grade 5% if you do it all. I would definitely recommend.

Brownell is a great teacher, and she's very thorough. Tests aren't hard if you do the readings and take notes on them (theres a lot). It is very necessary to read the book. Do the extra credits...they take 5 minutes and they add to your grade a lot. Don't miss class cause you need the lecture notes too.

Celia could be a lot better. She spends a lot of time on ppt slides that you dont need to concentrate on for the test and then glosses over the ones you need to really pay attention to. MUST MEMORIZE THE BOOK! Contrary to what someone said before, she never responded to my emails. Didn't learn much at all but its a requirement for psych majors.

She is very nice and discusses topics thoroughly. Her tests can get a little challenging but she curves the grades appropriately at the end of the semester. You do not end up doing as bad as you thought.

Wonderful professor. Lecture attendance is a must, seeing as she doesn't post her notes online. Uses the book a lot for exam questions - be sure to read what she says to. She uses videos during lecture to help, and even brought in children for a demonstration. Interesting class, though it did have its boring moments. I recommend it.

Tests were not that challenging, especially if you went to lectures. She also offers extra credit. She wasted 15 minutes at the beginning of each lecture asking useless questions. Lecture was pretty engaging though as she frequently used videos and even children to clarify concepts. I'd recommend her class.
