terrible. rambles in circles, never gets to a point. doesn't teach anything, its just a discussion. maybe that's philosophy for ya but he never taught philosophy, he just hems and haws and asks what we think. teach please! and then expects us to write huge papers on stuff he didn't teach us. nice guy but bad teacher.

He's a great man, very funny and smart. Test are hard but if you read you may get an A. I barely read and i did okay in the class. He goes off topic a lot but a lot of what he says is in class discussions will pop up on tests and quizzes. He's chill I liked him, also very caring.

His class is very fun, partially due to his own personality and ability to get sidetracked. He cam be hard to reach by email, but if you knock on his office door, he's more than willing to help. Read and have an opinion. Material is deeply philosophical, which can be interesting. Definitely a fun guy to have these philosophical discussions.

Two fairly long papers,4 short quizzes, and a short answer/essay mid term and final. Papers are time consuming but he grades them very fairly. Mid term and final are long but not bad provided you take good notes in class and read the books. An A is definitely attainable.

Probably the coolest professor on campus. I never took a class on philosophy or Ancient Greece but I care about material I don't know. Finally I mastered multiple concepts of "The Republic," US Economy, Financial Crisis, existence of money, and how people rely on money for everyday life. Inspiring, would take a class with him in a heart beat!

Professor Miller was my honors thesis advisor a lifetime ago (2003). I have since graduated from law school and have been a practicing attorney for 8+ years. He is still one of my all time favorite professors. Incredibly smart and engaging and one of the reasons I still hope to return to teach myself one day.

Hard asking for help over email. Class discussions were interesting and philosophical in nature. Not too much politics.

Dr. Miller is an AMAZING person. He is extremely understanding and genuine. The class required a huge amount of reading, so if youre not willing to read all the material, you will have a hard time keeping up. His lectures tend to turn into philosophical discussions, hence the need to read the material in order to participate. If you can take him!

This is a philosophyliterature class, has absolutely nothing to do with politics. The class is titled 'Classical Political Theory', but he rarely talks about politics. The lectures are basically just group discussions about what he thought was interesting when he read the book that morning. No clear structure or reason to this class. AVOID!

Miller's class is one of the more interesting ones. He's a philosophy type of guy- so if you don't like philosophy, you'll probably have a hard time paying attention to the lectures. I didn't read any of the books or plays and still did really well. He changed the syllabus around A LOT, so go to class.

Most of what's already been said about Prof. Miller is true. He wants us to utilize Twitter as an effective tool for respectful out-of-class discussions, which I found fascinating. Though he would expect your participation in class, he will be doing most of talking and presenting interesting thoughts and comments for class to ponder and interject.

(Cute!) No mandatory attendance, gives explicit exam reviews, very willing to pre-review essays, etc. Miller's only drawback is that he has a long turnaround time for returning graded work or responding to emails. Overall, if you take occasional notes and attend the reviews, an EXTREMELY easy A.

Lectures are more akin to class discussion than a lecture. Lots of reading assigned without enough time to really digest/discuss, but it is possible NOT to read ALL the text and get an A. Not exactly crystal clear, but he tries to give you as many points as possible for ANY answers given. Several pop quizzes and tends to ramble in class.

This is definitely a philosophy class disguised as a government class. We talked about government for about 30 minutes the entire semester. Lots of reading; the lectures tell his interpretation, but you can argue something else and still get a good grade as long as your argument is cohesive. Given the chance, I would not take this class again.

Let's just say Char has a hard time focusing on the class... esp. if there's a hottie in it. The classes are a joke, learned absolutely nothing. A huge waste of my money and time. Essays were easy, but he didn't grade a thing (except once and it took forever to get back). Had his TA do everything (which is a good thing). Find a better professor!

I would DEFINITLEY recommend coming to every class and really paying attention so you can get the most out of it. I really think you'll enjoy the lectures. They blew my mind.
