Wastes more time yelling at people about their phones and coming lategoing early than he spends teaching. When you ask him for help in the recitation, he simply replies "google it." We pay too much to have to take this professor. stay in bed and read the book and you'll do better than if you attended class. OK guy sometimes, but bad teacher...

Do not take a class with him unless you are ABSOLUTELY FORCED to and if you must take a class with him I would suggest using a solutions manual for any and all homework assignments otherwise you'll probably fail because he is useless in terms of help outside of class. By far the worst professor in the entire department. Not a bad guy though.

Probably the hardest professor that I have ever had, but I feel like I've learned so much just from one class. While other reviews say that Dr. Kaufman is poor in a lecture hall, he is absolutely wonderful in a small classroom setting, and generally a great help outside of class hours.

Very condescending towards students, does not help during office hours, and wastes lecture time by stopping lecture to stare down any late arrivals or early departures, AVOID LIKE THE BLACK PLAGUE!

BY FAR THE WORST PROFESSOR I HAVE EVER HAD IN MY COLLEGE CAREER. HOW THE PHYSICS DEPARTMENT KEEPS HIM IS A HARDER QUESTION THAN WHAT HE GIVES ON EXAMS. IF RATE MY PROFESSOR HAD A NEGATIVE 1 COLUMN IT WOULD BE FILLED OUT IN EACH CATEGORY. HE IS ALSO USELESS DURING OFFICE HOURS IT WOULD BE BETTER IF YOU HAD A TUTOR!!!

Terrible "teacher"! Is not worthy of teaching college students. Talks to the student as if he is talking to Albert Einstein. EXTREMELY Incomprehensible. Out of all the terrible physics professors at URI, He is the Worst. Will stare down students if they leave early or arrive late (thereby wasting his own teaching time). Overall Bitter and crazy man

He is half the reason the Dept. was put on probation. Between this professor and his co worker this class was made near impossible. I am now currently a junior in the MCE program and he is among the worst teachers i have ever had. I dont normally rate professors but save yourself and hold off until the spring semesters to take phy205.

professor Kaufman is a wonderful professor. He is very kind and helpful if you ask questions. He is always available outside of class if you've fallen behind. He definitely knows the subject and cares about students learning.

HORRIBLE teacher. stops talking and stares at you even if your 2minutes late to class. talks 10minutes for every one line he writes. waste of time to go to class. read the book and study old exams and you should be fine.

If you can avoid him do so. I've learned more from skimming the book then going to his classes. He is a HORRIBLE teacher. And he's rather rude to many of the students. I don't know if it's because he's thinks we're stupid or what but it's very annoying. The average for our first exam for over 100 students was well below a 40 of 100.

He's a serious physicist and this is a really basic class so it's obvious that the material really familiar to him. He answers any questions and will help with any problem in the book you have, you just have to see him. I really liked the class, but I had to do the reading and homework. Exams were really straight forward.

honestly, he's a nice guy if you go one on one with him, i had a question with webassign and he helped me get the right answer. he's really bad at teaching but he will give you partial credit on the exams unlike professor nunes who gives all or nothing. read the book and do the examples in the book and you should do decent on the exams

He is the the wonderful unique candidate in order to make th eyoung students totally hate somethign which we call Physics... He pretends to know alot and as he somehow feel more comfortable with astronomical topics, almost every other topics somehow will ends up with soem issues in astrony... He himself doesnt know what his goal is in the class as

Definitely the worst physics teacher I've had. He only shows abstract theory, never specific problems, which is bad considering that the exams are all problems, making you totally unprepared. You can bring in formulas on a card, but it isn't that helpful since you never learn how to use them, even in the homework. Trust me. Don't take this class!

He was a really bad teacher. Didn't go over the material in the book, even though the exams are based on the equations of the book. He mainly goes over derivations of equations instead of equations themselves. TAs in recitation are helpful, and its the only way to get Webassign done. Try to avoid him if u can
