I actually took 3 courses from Dr. Pelzer back in the 1970's. He was helpful and nice back then too. He didn't have Bill Hoffman's sense of drama, but I did find his lectures interesting. He helped me become a lifelong learner in biology.

The cutest old man you will ever meet. He loves teaching, but he is sooo slow. Doing the homework is crucial. His exams come straight from it. If you need help, he will love to help you. He has the most adorable smile and giggle and he is just the sweetest man. Greatest teacher ever? Eh, probably not. But you will love him and enjoy the class. :)

He is a bit old so he gets off track sometimes but he is the nicest man i have ever met. He helps you before tests by using his free time and giving you the questions that are going to be on the test. He is bashful but soo adorable. Take him!

You got to love Charlie...He's the archetype forgetful Prof., he's forgotten more than I'll ever know. He's quiet unassuming, and shy. He's actually a great teacher, yes he makes mistakes, but 99% of the time he corrects himself. His pace of instruction is unhurried, that is a breath of fresh air. He strikes me as Greg Mendel, Monk like.

Dr Pelzer is a very nice man, but not a good professor. He will often contradict himself and then get confused. In a 3 hour lab he will talk for at least 2 of those hours. Lectures go by slowly often talking about what we already talked about in lab. Sometime he spends an hour in lecture before he gets to any new material.

Great Teacher. Pelzer is really concerned if students are learning the material and is the most helpful teacher I have had, especially in Biology. Offers study groups and basically gives the question for the test. If you do poorly it's your own fault.

Dr. Pelzer is nice but really not a good professor. He repeats himself a lot and forgets how to do the problems on the bored. Tries to be helpful and does give a lot of extra credit but really needs to just retire. Don't take him if you can avoid.

Comment:
Dr. Pelzer was an okay professor overall. However, he was very boring at times and his "so-called" study guide questions were useless in terms of preparing for a test. Furthermore, if you want to take him anyway, don't miss too many days, take good notes and read the book for yourself and you should do fine.

This class is pretty tough, but Pelzer is the sweetest guy. He will give extra information if you ask questions after class. Exams are based on homework problems. There are a lot of review sessions, he also gives hints about which questions will be on the exams. He offers a lot of extra credit. You will use all three books!

Sweet old man. VERY BORING lectures though. Gave exam questions ahead of time. I liked him but I probably would try a different professor if I had to take another bio class. Offers a little extra credit.

Dr. Pelzer will go out of his way to help students, except that he won't fix problems with the tests. His lecture is boring by virtue of subject, but he makes it funny. He offers many opportunities for extra points, too. Very nice professor, very tough subject, very easy class.

by far THE most pointless, boring class i've ever taken at SVSU. why isn't this man retired? he really isn't a bad guy, just an awful teacher! my advice? don't ever take him. if you do? bring homework for another class to his class, and stop by java city before you get there - coffee is a necessity.

Crazy old man, would be an awesome grampa. Hilarious guy, but confusing as hell. Lab takes way too much time, damn drosophila. Exams are straight out of the homework. Do the homework, easy. Lab practicals rediculous, he'll ask about the littlest detail, so look over lab handouts as a religion. He looks funny pulling up in a red Mercury sports car.

I think he has Alzheimer's. Asks the class how to do problems. Took over 30 minutes in a review session to answer a problem no one asked. Then said that problem was going to be on the final and it wasn't! His lectures have NOTHING to do with the homework/tests. Nice old man but needs to retire. Take Stanton.

Very nice professor. Lectures will go by slow and not much information will be covered and labs will take more time than alotted. Class is appropriate difficulty. Would take Dr. Pelzer again. He will go out of your way to help you.

Nice enough man, but the lectures are completely unorganized! Yes, he does give you the questions prior to the test but for my class he almost gave us a WHOLE OTHER final exam! He told us one set of questions and then was going to give us a final with a completely different set. Sweet old man but the class is stupidly pointless! *I got an A*

Very nice and caring, always willing to clarify any questions for you. People complain about bad grades, but he gives you all the questions before the test! The class couldnt be any easier!! All the answers can be found in notes from lectures, and if not he will tell you the answer. Very organized, take him if you want an easy A!
