He's ancient, but I believe he is an excellent teacher. Very intimidating but will help you if you take the time to ask. He uses tons of examples until the class understands what the presentation is about. Tests were not but, half were take home. With a little bit of studying the class is a breeze.

Wakefield has retired and has transformed like a phoenix into an amazing math teacher. My four week Calc 1 course was a breeze, easy to follow, fantastic supplementary materials, relevant and varied examples that weren't "perfect situations", I'd recommend him to anyone with no reservations. Forget what you heard about the Old old Wakefield.

Although Dr. Wakefield is not the teacher for everyone, he is a very good teacher provided the student puts in the time required to try to understand the material. Cal3, DiffyQ, and Linear Algebra are what I had him for and I learned much in those classes.

I thought Dr. Wakefield's teaching style made the material easy to understand. I also enjoyed his sense of humor and his comparisons of math to anything and everything: basketball, mailboxes, hiking, and nameless other daily activities! He was awesome
