I learned so much in here. I actually read the books cover to cover. I'm not sure what alternate views there may be to American music history, but his "viewpoints" were always about turning us onto the music and learning to understand each other through the music. I loved the early topics like delta blues and hillbilly as much as the later 1960s an

This was the first time I've actually looked forward to going to class. This guy is THE best! It's not a hard class if you go and pay attention. Which works out great, because you'll want to go and pay attention. If he taught in the Acctg. Dept., I'd be set.

This professor is great. If you are snooty, uptight, or want to sit straight up and be lectured all day long straight out of the book, don't take this class. However, if you like professors who teach life long lessons and tell it how it is; it's awesome. I love this class.

Anyone who gets offended easily is recommended to NOT take this class. 199 people DO enjoy Chas and he is one of the few people who is trying to teach things how they really are. He is an excellent professor and an even better guy. If he stops teaching this class, there will be more then profanity going on. Don't ever change Chas!

the cowboy is awesome. i was the only one in my class who knew zappa and he still talks to me now becasue of that. if you enjoy music, this class is EXTREMELY enlightening

This man is awesome. His class is one of the best i have ever taken. Definately come to class, i watched a couple of friends of miine flunk out of his class because they didnt bother to come... "if you fail rock and roll, you should reconsider if college is the place for you." pay attention, take notes, and read the chapters. after that, the course is a cake-walk.

Coolest damn teacher ever. He definately opened me up to music I never thought I'd be into (blues, bluegrass, The Beatles...). I wish his class was smaller though, to weed out the kids who didn't want to be there. A more hands on, intimate classroom (as opposed to the auditorium) would have made the class much better, though. I also wish he taught more classes. Maybe a Roots of Rock and Soul II...
