I wasn't a fan of Cassidy at the beginning of the semester because I thought she was stuck up but you just have to get used to her sometimes snarky comments. Nonetheless, the class is straightforward and she hands back papers in a timely fashion. My only complaint is that the course book is costly and it would've been cheaper to just print it out.

Comment:

She was very understanding and although you had to work for your grades she will go through your papers before they're due and tell you what to edit. She would tell her own personal stories and was really easy to connect with. I would definitely recommend taking her.

Comment:

Rude teacher and terrible grading scale. Never struggled with writing, but I did in her class and when I asked for help I was more or less told to figure it out myself. I did not feel that the grade I got was deserved and all of my other classmates agreed that they hated the way she teaches and grades papers.

Comment:

I think she is a great writing teacher. However, she is extremely rude and condescending. She also has a strict attendance policy, which is basically if you miss more than 2 classes she will start taking away points. These points really affect your grade because the class is only out of 100. I would suggest picking another teacher if possible.

This professor is extremely rude, arrogant, and acts as if she's better than everyone. She walks with her nose is stuck in the air (quite large with a wrinkled face) and is very condescending. Her way of speaking with you is quite rude as if she is trying to talk down. I wouldn't recommend this teacher to anyone ever !

4 long papers for this class which you seem like you're working on forever, but the lectures/discussions focus on what you need to write about so its very helpful. She also revises all of your papers herself and as long as you fix what she comments on, you will get full credit. Participation is important also.

She takes some getting used to. After awhile I gained a lot of respect for Cassidy. She is very clear on what is expected. The whole class is writing papers, no tests. The papers are tedious and extremely boring to write. Not a fun class by any means but pretty easy if you do the work. And prepare to spend 70$ on a stupid course pack.

Professor Cassidy was very thorough with our writing. We only had to write 4 short essays and 4 more formal long ones. She was funny and always asked about our days. Didn't put up with anyone's crap, and hates when people don't go to class. Best class thus far.

I took Professor Cassidy during the summer and we had a lot of writing to do, but nothing out of the ordinary; You need to buy the material or else you'll be entirely screwed; She allows you to revise 2 papers, which helped me out A LOT; Attendance is necessary; Overall she was a great teacher, I learned a lot!

For the traditional student, she seems like a great professor. However if you are a NON TRADITIONAL STUDENT, going back for a degree after several years, and need a little more help that the traditional student, DO NOT TAKE HER. She is helpful to a limit, she can be condescending, and critical. She makes you not want to ask questions.

Obviously there is a lot of writing in this course. She gives you the chance to re-do papers again after the final draft for more credit, so there's really no reason not to get an A. There are no tests or final, just essays and a final project. I don't like writing, but this class was actually kinda fun.

Professor Cassidy is willing to help any student who has questions about writing or revising a paper, and straight out says that she wants you to get an A. I liked the workshop setup of the class with how we were able to keep revising until we got as many points as we wanted- that's what real writing is.

Her class was easy as you only had to be ready with class materials, write short essays and 4 long essays and that was pretty much the class. Say, your arn't a writer? well there are rough drafts, peer reviews, she reviews them, and you can also revision them as many times as you want to get the A+. Easy class, everyone gets an A.

Simple if you keep up with the readings and essay assignments. Make sure you bring your printed articles to class and that you read ahead of time so that you are prepared for class discussion. She wants you prepared. Essay topics were generally not hard to write about at all. Final projectyoutube video was fun! Make sure you participate in class!

No tests the entire class which is nice. 4 Papers and 3 blog posts but deadlines are very reasonable. Each paper is about 5 pages. Short articles have to be read for each class for discussion. No book, only a course pack with student papers for around $35. My entire class was based on social media so it connected to our lives well.

She makes you pay almost 60$ for a 'course pack' that consists of rubrics, articles from the internet, and sample student papers. She is rude, blatantly condescending to students in front of the class. Attendance is necessary: she actually abides by that '< 3 absences and you should drop the class' thing. Take this class to learn how not to write.

Do not be intimidated by her initial email. If more students would stick out the first week of the class they would realize that Prof. Cassidy is fair and understanding and willing to work with you. The course pack is essential so don't think you can skip out on it. You will read the entire thing!
