Comment:
I had him for team based learning. Chris can be boring during lectures, but he isn't bad at facilitating the group activities. His exams are a bit challenging, and he gives out homework almost every week. There's a lot of stuff you have to do for this class, but you learn quite a bit. The labs are okay, but the final project was tough.

Not much to say, Dr. Chu taught the material well but could be a bit boring at times. I felt like I learned quite a bit, but probably more through the lab than the lectures.

He is a really good professor, if you go in his office hours. In the lecture, he might not be clear due to his dialect, but through his slides I am sure you will understand everything. Homework are difficult, but really helpful! GO TO LAB RECITATION, it saves your ass during exam. Final Project takes a lot of time, better to start right away.

Comment:
Chris is very knowledgeable of Digital Logic and makes good use of the visuals in the book to provide seamless transition between the readings and the lectures. The lectures are a good opportunity to ask questions. Start the homework before the due date as it is often lengthy and requires further clarification/help sometimes.

Just a horrible Instructor just reads from slides which are a mash of some pages of the textbook doesn't engaged with students, expect to learn a lot of it on your own. Which is why we pay so much money for right! Lots of HW which is good and extra credit pop quiz. But if you can don't take class with him!!!

It is very hard to understand what he is says due to his heavy accent. He is not clear in his teaching & his slides are just a copy from the book. He basically reads from his slides. He tries to be very strict in class but most students dont seem to care about his teaching. He is not interactive and the class is rather boring. Extra credit pop quiz

Be ready to study on your own. He told us at the start of the class year that it's his first time teaching this class. Loads of homework( about 5 hours per week). Exams no curving even though students are doing so prrorly.

This is a difficult class. Lot of memorization in the second half when it comes to the designs of flip flops, especially because of closed book exams. Helpful teacher if you go to his office hours. But be ready to work for it.

He is really really hard and doesn't teach very well, he just focus on his notes and his notes doesn't help at all. He doesn't even help students with homework or anything else. He doesn't even know how to talk to students he is really rude.

He is really worst, I don't understand his accent at all. He speaks way to fast and he doesn't help at all. I would not recommend to take his class at all. There are better professor that teach. He is the WORST !

He provides a lot of material, and is fair and clear with grading. Unfortunately, when I took the class there were a lot of technological problems (the irony!) but I talked to him and he was very understanding. Two other professors subbed and they seemed a lot more fun during the lectures. Overall, I'd say average to slightly above.

Comment:
He's not the best, but you could easily do much worse. English is obviously the professor's second language, and as such lectures can get a bit confusing. However, he is nice enough to post both the syllabus and lecture notes online, and seems to be pretty aware of his flaws. Additionally, he's very reasonable.

Certainly not an easy class, but an excellent teacher. Grading was fair, and he did a very fine job of clarifying and really teaching the material rather than just covering topics. He asked for lots of feedback to shape the course to meet the needs of the class and took a genuine interest in our learning.

The class is well organized but this professor complicated things when it could be taught in a simpler way. Not worth going to lecture.

I don't understand the low ratings for Chu. He genuinely cares about his students and does all he can to make things better for them. He posts all of the lectures, practice exams, solutions to quizzes and homeworks, and even scanned slides of the work we do in class. Doing and understanding the homework is crucial. It's a great class overall.

I liked this teacher a lot. Ignore comments about his accent. Maybe 7 years ago, but I had no trouble understanding him last year. He isn't very exciting, but he explains the material well. Assignments are from the book, teaching is not. If students struggle on a test problem, he'll give tips on how to solve similar problems. Overall good teacher.
