Dr. Lakhan is a professor that wants to see all of his students succeed. There is a lot of reading and writing for his exams, but the topics are interesting. If you are struggling or are not understanding a topic, talk to him because he understands and truly seems to care. Study all assigned readings and go to class to do well in his class.

I've had Dr. Lakhan three times now and he is an excellent Prof. I sincerely enjoyed his lectures and he has so many life lessons/stories that he shares with his students. Dr. Lakhan takes the time to get to know you and build personal relations, he is extremely caring and everything he tests you on is fair. Hands down, the best Prof I've had

Dr. Lakhan is one of the best professors in the Earth and Environmental Science Department. He has a great balance between teaching and research that many professors struggle to achieve. In terms of the class, it is an extension of 66-200. Show up to class, pay attention, make good notes, and you will do well. Remember to read the textbook.

Concepts and techniques used in this class are very applicable to the real world. As a professor, Dr. Lakhan was meant to teach this class. Dr. Lakhan is the complete package. Both an incredible teacher and researcher. I've taken 4 classes with him and enjoyed every single one. He is not only passionate but kind, caring, and humorous as well . If you come to class and pay attention you will do well. As a subject, it is tedious and detail-oriented so take the time to do the work.

Amazing prof. If you go to class and listen to everything he says, you will do very good. He gives numerous hints about tests and midterms, best guidance I have ever had in studying. Resource Management is actually very interesting and modern, the textbook is cheap and very helpful. My favourite university class so far, sit front row!

Loved his classes. This is the third of his classes Ive taken and all have been very interesting. Be prepared to do your reading and study hard, but all the material is interesting and the tests are fair, usually all questions from the textbook. His lecture material is organized well and easy to take notes too, overall an effective prof.

Comment:

Lakhans lectures are very interesting and helpful. In most of his classes he stresses the Precautionary Principle and Sustainable Development (from Agenda 21) as being key points in his classes. I really enjoyed writing up the EIA, seeing what actually goes into it, writing the LCA was really interesting, doing the cradle to grave analysis my fav.

Lectures are a waste of time, he doesnt present every slide in his powerpoint, and says everytime, its all in your textbook. Well if it's all in the book, what's the point of the lecture? Tests aren't based on understanding, they're based on memorization of random facts, tables, and other obscure information. Don't take this class unless necessary.

Extremely hard class, avoid taking it with this prof if you can. Classes are interesting but there's no point in going as 80% of the material for the exam is in your textbook. He likes taking random facts and tables from the book for his exams. Intimidating to approach but helpful if you do.

Horrible professor. He brags about how accomplished he is, he treats everyone like they're idiots. There isn't a textbook for the class and he doesn't post his slides online. For the labs, you're on your own, the t.a "isn't allowed" to help you. And the fact that he already thinks you're dumb makes him so unapproachable for any help whatsoever.

I can't believe that some people even said that he is a great prof. He's not. At all. He is extremely HARD. I am an A student, and his courses (I had to take 2) killed my average. I got a C+ and a B. That was after A LOT of work and studying. RANDOM information that isn't important is what you're tested on - memorization of stupid things. AVOID!!

DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS WITH THIS PROF. The tests, midterm and exam are ridiculous. The assignments are easy but worth close to nothing. He expects you to know every single word in his text (including all diagrams and tables). Just don't take this class with this professor. Like others said, it will hurt your grade badly! Word.

If you're in Earth Sciences or Enviro Studies, you unfortunately can't avoid him. HE IS AWFUL. His "tests" worth 5% of your mark are ridiculously hard, because he tests you on RANDOM stuff from the text - not fair at all. 67-200 is a good class, the material is interesting...but with him as the prof, it's NOT WORTH IT. Will kill your average! AVOID

The material covered in this course is rather interesting, and his lectures aren't that painful even in a 3-hour lecture. However, his exams are ridiculous. He doesn't test concepts but random, precise details like year, name, data from anywhere in the textbook. It's possible to get an A+, but you have to study every last singular detail in notes.

I absolutely love this professor, his class is sooo interesting. He is one of the greatest profs i've had. He was a little weird at first but once you get used to him, you'll enjoy the class and actually want to attend. He makes the material so intersting that i'm taking another course with him next semester. Can't wait.
