Comment:
Probably the hardest teacher in the ME department, his assignments are difficult even for group work and you'll be giving thanks for the fact that the final is multiple choice. His notes are very scattered, too. That said, if you want to know the subject very well this is the guy to take. A bit hard to catch but he'll always answer questions.

Comment:
He simply does not know how to prepare students for his tests. Test questions are always out of leftfield, and rarely the main focus of what hes emphasized in class. Lecture seems to chase lots of tangents, doesnt stay focused on problem solving. Can not give a straight answer, he can turn a yes or no question into a 15 minute soliloquy.

Hardest teacher I have ever had period! His homework is hard plan on not finishing it, and the exams are even worse. His lectures are horrible, and if you rely on them to pass you will fail. The best thing to do is to ignore his lecture and notes and simply read the book yourself. I did this and stop going to class and my grades improved a lot.

Dr. Wilson is incredibly smart and intellectual, but doesn't know how to relate it to students in lectures. To succeed in his class you have to make constant use of his office hours, but even then you won't be prepared for his tests.

Comment:
Tests are murder, not because they're hard problems, but because they're often not problems at all! He'll ask nitpicky questions about definitions and memorizing formulas. This is a 4000 level engineering class, that should not be what our grade is based on.

Dr. Wilson is an incredibly nice person, but a horrible teacher. Lectures are simply a waste of time, they have no substance and are no help at all for doing the multiple group homework assignments or preparing for tests. You teach yourself how to solve problems. Several test problems did not cover the homework and were briefly mentioned in class.

Horrible. He gives out notes which have maybe 20% of the actual test material on them, and basically speeds through every subject without providing practical example problems or even explaining in detail what he talks about. You may as well just stay home, print out his notes, and read the book, because you're not going to get anything from class.

Very bad teaching. Absolutely no use of the board for a problem oriented subject. Never explains things that were asked for. This prof projects himself as a know it all, but when asked for clear answers for some of the doubts, does not give a straight one at all..

Dr. Wilson's classes are certainly not easy but he is one of the best teachers in the program. He is very helpful one on one and really cares about his students. The homework and tests are difficult but graded fairly.

Dr. Wilson is a good teacher if you put in the time to learn the material. He expects a lot out of you and his homeworks are rather lengthy. However, he trains you well and you will know your material by the end of the course if you put in the work. His tests are difficult, but reasonable if you're prepared for them. I would recommend.

Very helpful, makes you learn the material very well. by the end of the semester you should be able to sketch Mohr's Circle even when you're plastered or sleeping. His tests aren't too bad but you never have enough time to finis it, I wish allowed at least 15 more min for the 2nd test. Also make sure you start on the homework early.

Bring a 2" binder to this class because you'll need it for the book of notes he gives you. He seems to be open to help you. The homework he gives should not be attempted the night before since they can take up to 5 hrs. 40% of the test is conceptual memorization, which sometimes can be ok but not for this class.

He gives out a book worth of notes you'll need a large folder for. I've never met one student who could follow his lectures 100% of the time. If you want to learn anything in the class, you'll have to teach yourself. He hands out unclear homework with the expectation you will have to go to his office and ask him. YIKES!

Chris Wilson is very smart and expects you to know your material from other classes. He has very lengthly but good "real world" notes. He's easy to understand but don't expect an easy A. Tests, homework, and quizzes are graded fairly. If you want to be a good engineer, take him.

Chris Wilson wants you to learn, I'll give him that. However he doesn't teach worth crap! He hands out over 350 pages of notes during the course of the semester merely skimming the surface of topics. He does NOT do examples so you have spend extra time combing over his "notes" in order to to do the homework which is murderous.

i guess he teaches a best he can because its not that the teachers are hard in this class but more so its that the class is just a confusing thing to teach, its not a uniform thing to learn that you can just memorize and pass just takes lots of practice.
