He doesn't even know our names, never made us introduce ourselves to the class. This makes the class feel less personal and doesn't make me care. He's harsh

He tells you exactly how to write the assignments he wants and his style of teaching is interesting. He'll give lectures every so often, which can be hard to follow, but if you ask for help he is more than happy to give it.

Comment:
Chris is a great professor. He's knowledgeable about his subject, willing to go into greater depth for specific questions, approachable, and very helpful when you seek extra help. Could provide more structure for assignments. Has tendency to speak quietly--you have to ask him to speak up regularly. Hotness level: occasionally distracting.

Chris was my div III chair, and I can't imagine having a better one. He doesn't always return emails but he's nearly always in his office and is incredibly knowledgeable. He gives thorough feedback - sometimes more honest than you'd like - but it's always spot on.

It doesn't get any better than Chris Jarvis. He's everything a Hampshire professor should be.. and more! He cares, he's brilliant (and so completely down to Earth!), and he makes science fun, even for those who don't already love it. Don't miss a chance to take a class with him (or better yet, have him as an advisor or on a Div committee). :)

This guy is too busy being elitist and pompous to help the students. Its a 100 lvl class and he can't manage to lower himself to speak to someone who isn't a science brain.

This guy rides to school on a damn motorcycle! And teaches bio! An this semester he's teaching zymurgy - the science of fermentation. He's like that guy you knew from home who could make anything out of anything, and tell you how he did it, as wandered off to check on his mushrooms. Awesome!

Chris is awesome, his class isn't supper easy, but it shouldn't be because you learn something. He's also got a great sense of humor always cracking jokes (even if they are dry and lab oriented). He's a good guy. If you are NS take a course by him.
