The lectures are pretty boring because he reads straight off of the slides, but if you study what's on the slides, you'll be fine. Homework and tests are all online, and he lets you use a note card with info on it for the tests. He isn't the best at explaining more complex ideas or answering questions, but he's willing to help outside of class.

Professor Staat is very mundane in his lecture style. He reads off the PowerPoint and occasionally writes necessary formulas on the board. Other than the lecture being rough, he possesses "limited patience" with people who do not understand the material and often reiterates himself exactly as before except in harsher, raised tone.

Do yourself a favor when scheduling your regrettable college math requirement and choose Mr. Staat as your professor. You were gifted with a brain that has brought you to this point, a high level intro math class, so don't squander it by way of a poor teacher.

Great professor. He really wants you to understand the material and be successful. His exams are long, but still doable. He is helpful during office hours. He usually lectures all class, but questions are always welcome. I highly recommend him.

Very clear for a calculus class. About every 2 weeks there is a homework sheet due, a review day, and then a quiz. Available to help outside of class and will check over the homework for you so you make sure you get a 100. Really nice, knows how to teach hard topics, fair grader. also provides textbook for you.

I didn't do well in this class because I had never taken a calculus class before. But he tried to help me through every chapter and section. He's a really nice guy and teacher. I would take him again for any class. DO THE HOMEWORK!!

Great teacher, He loves math but doesn't really force it on you. He enjoys helping students understand it better. Howework every night but NOT FOR GRADE. It helps a lot but not necessary. 8 tests throughout thes semester and then a final. Great Professor.

One of the best profs I had. Had him for Calc I, II and for Elementary stats. Easy to understand and if you dont, he'll find another way to explain it. Always willing to help you, if you ask. I was taking Foundations of Higher Math with someone else and struggled with understanding the teacher. He would always help me even though he didn't teach it

He designs the course with the intent that if you need help, you have multiple options. First, you can see him in his office, second, you can go to the math lab, third, you can go to weekly study sessions, and you can get a tutor. He is very easy to get help on the classes only if you ask. His information is posted on the website for review.

This was one of the most difficult math classes I have ever taken. I do not recommend him at all. He is a very picky grader. One test I didn't miss any math on and I still got an 87. Definitely not.

I absolutely hate math and Pr. Staat was one of the best professors I've ever had. He doesn't check homework but it's still important to do to prepare for tests. Quiz every Friday means if you bomb one it doesn't have a huge effect. Gives awesome resources to help study. Wants you to do well!

He was well prepared for class. Gave key formulas on color coded handouts, which you can easily refer to during class. He understood the material was difficult and was patient with questions. He was very clear and detailed in explaining homework and test material. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality. Would definately take again.
