Overall she's a nice lady. A little spacey but doesn't ask too much. 3 smaller papers and a semester long research paper. She can be a tough grader but gives you numerous chances to go in for help. An A is possible but would require too much work for a core 100 level.

All in all she wasn't that bad, only a few people could squeeze an A on a paper. Fair grader, would not mind taking again. Class can get dull, but I guess it depends on your interest in the class. She is nice, and does not mind talking to you one on one. I would say, 8.4/10

Great class to take for core. I was afraid to take her because of her bad reviews but throughly enjoyed the class. The books we read weren't my favorite but she did her best to make them interesting. Easy little quizzes to check and make sure your reading. Only one very simple paper. Read the books, go to class, have an opinion and you'll get an A

Very nice, but pretty boring. She's an easy grader, but the material is extremely boring. You read four really boring books and talk about those all semester. Easy class and good idea for core, but it's pretty boring.

I took her UCWR class on Monday Nights. Terrible. The book selections were boring, and most of the time I spent doing papers for her class every other week. She basically wants you to put in your paper the way she would like you to state things. Overall not that bad, managed a A- though, I didnt really learn much

Do not take UCWR with her! Very unclear and confusing class. I had it as a night class and it was 2 and half hours of torture. Goes off on tangents not related to class and gives conflicting or just unhelpful comments about your writing. Our first class she spent 45 minutes trying to make youtube work. 4 big papers with the occasional in class.

I'm not sure why some think she is a difficult grader. She really is very sweet and her class is extremely easy if you just try and attend all the classes. Don't miss the easy pop quizzes and the papers are quite simple. She does come late to class, but if you're looking for an easy Literary core, its not a bad class to take.

Boring and grades papers extremely hard, even if you answer all of the questions she asked, she still wants more. Wastes a lot of class time trying to get the movies going and wastes time showing movies anyway...isn't this a reading class?? She just seemed lazy and out of it, never took the time to learn students' names either.

She is not a very good teacher. She chose very boring and really horrible books this semester. She doesnt even really understand them herself. She grades pretty hard. Go to class because she does mark you down, most of the time. The final is easy.. if you read the books. The quizzes are tough and are uesless. The class in general is a no-no!

She's an ok person, but she is really useless as a professor. If you ask her a question about the text, she dances around the answer, but never fully answers it. The paper topics are easy, but if you don't write what she wants you to write, she will give you a bad grade. I would not recommend taking her...find another prof if you can.

She picked relatively interesting novels. However, she was nearly always late to class, constantly had to search for her papers, and sometimes took at least 15 minutes to get set up. The writing assignments are okay, but she'll tell you she only wants proof you've read the novels, however you lose points if you don't "go deeper."

Horrible. Late to almost every class. She grades papers by what she wants you to write and not by what ideas you came up with. Going to every class helps and definately read the books for the papers, but her lectures are so useless its painful. Wants you to stay short and concises, yet all her comments were "expand" or "write more." Do not take her

If you read the books, you will be fine. Weekly quizes on quotes but she mentions many of them in class as she reads passages out of the book. You can get by with finding summaries online. Interesting books, i still have them and plan on re-reading them in the future.

She hates her students. Picks terrible novels to read, unless you enjoy early 19th century crap. Hard grader on papers, and there is at least one quiz per week on readings with specific quotes- doesn't go over them, just quizzes you. RUN FOR YOUR LIFE!

Enjoyable in class and will let you out early. She is a harder grader than other UCWR teachers, but at the same time you feel like you actually learned something about writing instead of wasting your time. Daily participation is there to boost your grade so your worst paper grades will balance out in the end and you'll get a decent grade.

Your final grade will be higher then you expect. Your "bad" papers (all of them) will get balanced out by the checks you get for everyday class things like grammar stuff, quizzes, in-class essays. And this class is sorta, on the fly. Its neither fish nor fowl-- the class is also not foul, but not great either.

nicolay is the bomb. she's a semi hard grader compared to other ucwr teachers but it's because unlike them she's a little more fair. i had a class with her at night and she let us out a few minutes early a couple times. you have to go to class to be on top of things otherwise you'll find yourself with a workload.

A fairly interesting class. Dr. Nicolay is a very nice lady and understands a student's work load. However, it is necessary that you do the readings. Quizzes on quotes occur weekly. We wrote 2 papers and had a final. I really enjoyed the books we read. As far as class goes, it is not imperative to attend and they are VERY boring.

Only take this class if you are familiar with Shakespeare's works and actually enjoy it. It is not boring despite what the whiny ADD freshman claim. Shows a film every week which really brings the text to life, very friendly & approachable outside of class. A bit disorganized, but you can use that to your advantage.

Youll die of boredom in class. Youlll hate her by the end of it. But GO TO CLASS. The book quizzes/discussions every day help you alot. She is a semi easy grader on papers as long as you actually discuss the books. Remember the names of the characters and read the texts! She did alot of quote identification and analysis. If you go to class and mark
