Dr. Kobland was/is a great professor. He has since retired but I had a great time in his Broadcast History class. Some of the other students didn't appreciate him but he was a genuine guy with a big heart who liked to tell people like it is. I hope I have more professors like him.

He's the nicest guy! His class is one of my favorite this semester. All we do is watch old time TV shows. I suggest this class as an easy Gen Ed.

Funny personality, really easy class. Only thing is the long paper on two old radio shows, but other than that you don't do any work. 4 tests throughout the class which he gives review sheets for beforehand. study & you'll be fine. I liked the class, was pretty easy!

Shows a ton of videos, which are mostly interesting, but the lectures can get bland. Don't really need to take notes as he gives out handouts before each test. The one paper assignment sucks - make sure you choose an easy tape or you're in trouble. Also, don't skip class and communicate if your suck or you will get a grade reduction.

BORING. Poor guy, he's old and really talks to himself most of the time. The upside is the coursework is REALLY easy. By the way, don't know what the guy below me is saying... attendance *is* mandatory.

You have three tests; easy. There is also a paper wherein you listen to two episodes of Old Tyme radio and write a comparative analysis paper; easy. Kobland has lots of radio shows and old TV footage which is an asset to the class. The book is unnecessary. Attendance not mandatory.

Clifford Kobland is crazy. He has some pretty good stories and seems like a good guy to hang out with. The class is a lot of jargon, but not too difficult. It is just hard to get motivated about. I doubt anyone fails this class.

What a strange person. He says that he will help and as long as you email him you won't have any absensces on your grade. LIE and he is totally unfair! It's a pointless but unfortunatley for PR majors it is required

Great guy. Knows his stuff and is quite funny. He is a hard grader sometimes, but is understanding and flexible. Highly reccommend! Oh, and so true about the emails! I thought I was the only one. I don't see that as a bad thing though... just a sign that he cares about his students.

he is a nice guy, hard to listen to though. the class is pretty easy, all group stuff and papers, which don't have to be long and come right out of the book. open book final... so that should be easy.

The best advice I can give you is to GO TO CLASS. If you don't he will send you threatening emails and that is never fun. But the tests are open book/notes and you can't beat that. Go to class and take a nap and you will be fine.

The reason I took this class was because Professor Kobland is a great guy. If you show up to class and review his notes the class is pretty easy. He is a funny guy too, not your average professor.

I also took COM 395. These classes can be both boring and interesting. They are easy if you keep up with the work. He is a very understanding guy. People take advantage of kindness so he gets stricter; but is still fair. He will help! I highly recommend!
