Coleen must have un stylo stuck up her derrière. She is the most stuck up, pretentious and arrogant teacher(if you can even call her that) I have ever had. She blatantly shows her biases towards politics and cultural differences. She expects students to already know french and calls them out and even makes fun of them in class.

This woman is one of the most pretentious people I have ever met. I came to class everyday, did all of the homework, and witnessed her single people out multiple times and make them feel like dirt. I asked for clarification on something in class, and she blatantly told me "that't not what I asked if people were confused over," then never helped me.

I really like Dr. Hays and her methods of teaching. She is in some ways difficult but that is only because French is a hard language to learn. She does a very good job of explaining things. Homework is given on a regular basis, but helps for preparation for her tests. I recommend anyone interested in REALLY learning French to take her class.

I am a french majir and have been taking french for 7 years and Dr. Hays has to be one of the worst professors I've had to date. She took everything I knew and actually confused me on it! Given the option I would not take her as a professor again.

Dr. Hays is the best professor I have ever had. She grades our homework every night and is always available to help us. She is so enthusiastic about French and French culture, and now I am too! Take this class and learn a lot!

I had her class and she was absolutely unhelpful in any way. She seemed to form an opinion about her students with out really getting to know them. She is very rude and acts as though she is better than most people. I would aviod this prof unless you like being treated unfairly.

Dr. Hays doesn't give a lot of homework, but will test thoroughly on grammar on tests. She likes class participation and she's friendly, so don't be afraid to participate in class. You'll have to keep an organized notebook, since she will grade you on it at the end of the year. Take good notes and don't lose your quizzes!

If you observe Madame Hays, you will find that if you don't like what she likes [opinions, politics, Kerry, a strong desire for French & it's culture, etc], then she won't like you or attempt to work with you after day 1. Once you upset her, it's hard to please her. She needs to earn respect, not intimidation. It makes her students unwilling.

The best language professor I have ever had. (I've had 7 just at Tech.) While some may dislike her because she actually expects you to work for your grade, she is very helpful and genuinely wants you to learn. All she asks is a little respect and a willingness to work.

Was a double major...Spanish and French. She once asked me outright which language I preferred. When I replied Spanish she gave me a strange look and then seemed to have little use for me afterwards. I was taking a French class under her at the time but found this a very strange reaction considering she teaches Spanish herself!
