The TA's do all the heavy lifting. They are the ones that teach problems, that actually prepare you for the exams. Fortunately the TA's are good so the class isn't too bad, but as for the professor, he just rambles on in lecture, and doesn't really care whether or not you are prepared for his tests, and isn't really very helpful at all.

he DOES NOT CURVE. did better than average but still got a c+. class is not interesting and you can't learn much, readings are the same boring, long and confusing. there's really not much you can get out of it except to pull down your GPA, or take it as PNP.

the lecture is boring and confusing, the book is confusing, the video in smartsite is helpful, you must go to the TA section, they are the only person help you to get a good grade in this class. no curve in this class. and if they use curve to calculated grade, it wouldn't helpful. for example, you still get c even you are 60 in rank 117

Great prof Knows the subject Futures/options is a difficult subject but prof. gave it all to make the material clear. KEEP UP WITH READINGS, read the book cover to cover, and the class was still a bit challenging. recommend this class ONLY to those who have an interest in econ/investing/markets and futures/options market. lots of reading

Prof. Colin is really knowledgeable in Futures trading. Learnt a great deal on all the Real World know-how on futures. Study for exams and quizzes though as they are not that easy. Average amount of article readings but Coursepack is HANDY!

Dr. Carter is a great professor. He is good at bringing and analyzing current events into lectures. If every professor was as good as Colin UC Davis would actually produce respectable students in the field of finance. He told me I would have to get lucky to accomplish my career dreams... I will not forget that. Also he lacks real world experience

I'm going to be blunt about this. I really disliked the class. It was confusing. I read the textbook and attended lecture and it was still confusing. The only reason I survived was because my TA (Joe) held really helpful review sessions. SAVED ME. Got a B . Burned all my exams and study materials from this class with a friend.

Great class and interesting material. Midterms always include one difficult or trick question but are otherwise straightforward. Mandatory Stocktrack was expensive and difficult to use but you loose 5% if you skip it. Professor is upbeat and helpful in and out of class. Know the complete calculus proof on demand for storage for first midterm!

Lectures were not helpful. it was better to go to TA office for help. boring lecture and didn't really understand what he all explained. simply go home to read textbooks. lectures notes + Textbooks + Stocktrack>>> $75.. all are owned by him. he is a really good " trader" ...

Prof Carter is a good teacher overall. He is nice, but does have certain guidelines. Other than the calculus proof on the first midterm...which was stupid, (not even knowledge, just memorization) the course was good. Its one of those either-you-get-it-or-you-don't courses. I thought it was cake.

He teaches very clearly. Materials are not that hard if really studys. Videos posted online are EXTREMELY helpful. I learn a lot from the class.
