She is a really good person, don't skip class or labs, u have a 5 page paper at the end of the semester, try to pick a good lab partner, homework for every 3 chapters is worth 3 points. try to listen and take notes. pay attention, she gives u a glance on the exam before hand.

She is by far one of my favorite teachers. She makes learning chemistry easier even though it is a hard subject. I definitely recommend!

This professor is amazing, but she can be very strict on attendence and arriving late. She really cares about her students, however, and really wants to see you succeed. Prepare for a hard class if Chemistry isn't your subject, but she is always right there to help you!

really tries to help her students. knows everyone's names, really funny too. pays attention to her students and their grades and really wants to help them succeed, will provide all the resources lcc has to offer. blown away by how much support she provided, went above and beyond for us. highly recommend this professor. also her accent is cool

Comment:

Her average grade percentage is higher than average. The lectures are very well done and the online materials that she provides really help make things easier. I wouldn't say that attendance is mandatory, but the lectures really provide so much help that you wouldn't want to miss them.

I hate chemistry, and Fernandes made it easy to understand! Make sure you don't skip class, there's a lot of information you'll miss. You only use the book if you want E.C., which really really helped my grade! There was also an SI leader, Mary, who helped me so much with chem 125. If your'e taking chem, definitely choose Fernandes!

a wonderful lady who cares about how you feel you're doing in class and wants to make sure you understand the content. Repeats things a lot, but it's very helpful. Makes it clear what we're doing in class and why. As long as you are present and ready to put forth the effort, it'll be a great course. She's very likable which makes it easier to come to class and. She's also clear on where to get help outside of class if you need it

Took this class coming out of high school with only basic knowledge of chemistry. She was very clear on everything she wanted you to do and expects YOU to actually do everything required. Had to have a lab partner(s) the entire time and there is no final exam. (Unless you miss one of the 4 exams). Overall, I really liked her teaching method!

Had a terrible chemistry teacher in high school so I took 125 before 151. Coretta was a great teacher who was very helpful. She gives two or three quizzes before each test (4 total). 4. the class would take her again

If you are worrying what chem professor to take, look no further. Fernandes is 1 of my favorite professors. I almost failed chemistry in high school, and did not understand a thing. But when I took the class with Professor Fernandes, I actually learned everything for the first time. She is very personable and cares and she's funny sometimes!

I loved taking her for my chem class. Not going to lie, I was a little nervous reading the ratings below, but she is a great teacher. You have to be willing to listen and take notes, otherwise you won't pass. Not showing up really isn't a good idea because she gives tests/exams after every chapter. She is a great teacher and helps you understand!

Absolutely awesome instructor. If I have the chance to take her again, I will. Uses a slideshow, but her lectures are awesome and available online. Homework was for extra credit and was a doable amount. Coretta cares about her students and how they're doing. Welcomes questions during and after class. Notices, and cares, when test grades slip.

So I myself am a slow learner and in my class whenever the teacher does review for tests or even when we are just going through lecture, I'm lost and the teacher doesn't know how to explain it in a way that makes sense. I read the book and that made more sense. Fernandes over-complicates the work for me.

She was very personable. She connects with her students and cares about each one, which makes a tough subject easier to learn. She grades and returns things the next time the class meets. She is very good at explaining. I would take her again in a heart beat.

Coretta was great. She's direct and goes over the material in a clear and concise manner. Shes not one to cut you slack and expects you to come to class and do the work. She was fair though and I would recommend her again for a teacher. Take this class with her, you won't regret it.

Chemistry in high school was torture so I was terrified of college chemistry - I ended with a 4.0. She goes over things thoroughly and is very willing to help if you don't understand. If you miss a class period, you miss some lecture (which you can print out) but she will mention things and explain things that aren't listed out on the lecture.

Good teacher, I wish she reviewed better before her tests. She reads right from the power points she makes. I would take her again if I had to, but I would recommend someone else.
