Comment:
I think that the course is awesome since I like thinking outside the box. The way that he teaches it throws a lot of students off. His teaching style is inquiry based. The main reason why I understood him is due to the fact that I was taught that way in high school. If you enjoy math problems, then this class is for you.

Dr. Stallman has a great personality. He is not the best professor though. With some effort you should do okay in his class.

He was a very hard professor to follow while he was lecturing. He was very scattered and didn't make much sense most of the time. Tests were hard because no one knew what was going on in class or what he was talking about.

Comment:
Dr. Stallmann is a excellent professor who uses the Moore Method in his upper level courses and a simplified version in his core classes. This makes him invaluable to math (hard science) majors. The more work he sees, the higher the grade will be, tho' this can be in class or in his office. You must WANT to learn the subject matter to do well.

Dr. Stallmann is a great professor math 1001 was a new class, but he did an awesome job of teaching it. He is very unorthodox but overall a great professor.

Dr. Stallman instructs using inquiry based methods. When you first have him as a professor, it will seem intimidating and impossible. However, if you put in the effort and participate during class, you are almost guaranteed a good grade. The best part, by the time the final rolls around, you don't have to study much.

Comment:
Stallman teaches through inquiry- he is NOT a bad teacher. He is a DIFFERENT BREED of teacher. He wants you to prove to yourself that you can really DO math and proofs, not just memorize formulas. His class will make you a better presenter and make you think. Every math major should have to take a class from him. That said- number theory was hard.

38 students started the semester, 9 were left for the final. All 9 of us got together 2 study and 7/9 were failing. lectures make absolutely no sense. He goes off on random tangents 20min in everyday. After tests we would compare to obtain what we could have done differently & some ppl had the same ans 1 person marked wrong 1 person marked correct.

Nice guy. I believe he is a good professor on his own ways but you need to understand his personality. If you do the homework he says, do the exercises from the book he tells you to do and seek help online, you will be fine. I got an A at his course and I was not interested in the course but I studied hard.

He is actually really cool, and super chill. My problem is that he didn't teach, banned us from the math lab, and made us get rid of our books. No syllabus and one test other than the final. Nice guy, terrible proffesor.

NO! Nein! I don't know what to say. I always do my very best in every class, only have A's and one B, now an F. Worst Prof ever. Tells you to "guess". Never really instructed anything. I have very, little notes. 80-90% of class is students working their homework problems on the board. Students coming from HS may be ok, returning-FORGET IT!!!!

He is a good person, but not a good teacher. If you don't know the basics of the material, then do not take him. If you do take him, do NOT do the online hw. Do the board hw. He corrects you and you can see what you're doing wrong vs the online hw (that does not). He's always available for help outside class. PUT EFFORT IN AND YOU WILL PASS.

When over half of your class drops every semester....you probably are god awful at teaching! Literally have 8 people left out of 28.He literally taught 2 concepts the whole semester. How am I supposed to learn from someone that won't tell me if the students teaching the class got the right answer.I have NEVER failed a class before and I failed his.

He's not a bad teacher; just like high school all over again though. He doesn't teach and instead expects you to already understand most of the material presented. If you know basic math, you'll be fine (it feels remedial). Otherwise get help and tutoring from someone who understands what he goes over in class and do the online hw.

He doesn't teach. Students are given homework to figure out on their own and then work on the board during the following class. He outright said he wasn't going to tell us if our answers were wrong or right. He banned us from the math lab so that we couldn't seek outside help. He grades extremely hard on everything. DON'T take this class.

Horrible prof. Didn't receive a single mathematics lecture. Every class students wrote their hw problems on the board and explained, Stallman would be condescending then fail to demonstrate the proper methods. Failed this class miserably because of the lack of instruction. Do Not Take. He's not a terrible guy, just a horrible prof.

The WORSE teacher i have ever taken in my whole college career. He doesn't teach well or help when you go to him for help either. I was told how bad of a teacher he was before i took him. I figured i would give him a chance but that didn't last long. After going to him for help& seeing tutors in the math lab i finally dropped. DON'T TAKE HIM!!!
