Get ready for an onslaught of politically charged lectures. This guy lets his left-wing radical ideas Fly, and watch out because you will be personally degraded in you speak up in class. Good luck, what a joke.

He's very smart, but he knows he's smart. A bit condescending. Assigned seating and attendance is taken daily. Only 2 tests, both essay exams, pretty difficult. Very in depth and harshly graded. Only good thing, plenty of extra credit. He does a lot of review and puts his lectures online. Doesn't put grades in regularly. Class was a chore.

Note: the exams in this class are difficult. there are two exams each worth 45% of the grade. He uses essay questions, but grades them like term identification. Professor & TA purposefully grade midterm hard so that students study more for final, but then eases up on grading the final. Midterm Exam grade: C, Final Exam Grade: A. Lots of EC.

Honestly, one of the most ridiculous classes I have taken here at WSU. Although he does most of the time attempt to clarify what is going on, he is EXTREMELY liberal and not accepting to other opinions. All the readings we do are biased, and doesn't make any attempt to show us the other side. Your opinion papers must agree with his or prepare 4 a C

Clayton really knows what he is talking about. I took a class that discussed polarization in politics today, intended for people uninterested in the subject. He really took the time to make the class interesting and clarify everything. One of my favorite professors here at WSU.

Clayton is hands down the best professor I have had at WSU. He is brilliant and challanges you with his knowledge. Anyone who doesn't like Clayton was just not willing to come to class and put in the work. He does a great job at explaining the material. If you want to actually learn take him, but if you speak in class be prepared to defend youself.

I want to like this class so badly. Civil liberties is so interesting. But I am constantly frustrated. After listening to his lectures I don't have enough breadcrumbs to leave the room. His brilliance far exceeds his ability to teach coherently. Our major project (potentially 25 pages) is worth 20% of our grade. Take it with somebody else.

One of the best professors I have ever had. He can come off as a bit arrogant, but he provides the best explanations of civil rights. He always spends the first 20 minutes of every class doing review to ensure that we retain the information. If you speak up in class, be prepared to defend your positions.

Clayton is super tight, he lives for the subject and it really shows; he's probably the closest thing you can get to a harvard professor at WSU. Participation in class usually results in him academically clowning on you, so this scares away some, but I felt it had valuable lessons to teach for those listening. Attendance is MANDATORY, REALLY!

Clayton is an excellent professor and he understands the material. He is also able to communicate that understanding clearly, and overall his teaching style will make you stop and think. He will play the Devil's advocate for whatever answer you don't pick and make you justify your side--don't be intimidated; It's fun. His attendance policy is harsh

Professor Clayton is a good professor so far, and is very punctual in his teaching. His T.A today, has a very interesting sweater on that makes him look like a tamed 90's stay home dad. Recommend Clayton so far, really great prof.

Dr Clayton is probably one of the smartest professors I have ever had. (He has a PhD from oxford, what do you expect?). He REALLY knows his stuff. He repeats important key concepts a lot which is helpful. I never found his expectations unreasonable. He's passionate about teaching and communicating concepts to students, which is rare these days.

I took Clayton a few times (Civil Lib., etc.) and he is a top notch prof. He knows his stuff. If you want to learn and don't expect to have someone hold your hand through through the class take him. Honestly, anyone who doesnt like him is just used to being in high school and he is WAY beyond that. You can learn a LOT from him if you want to.

Professor Cornell comes to class... lectures... then lets his T.A.'s run the show for everything else... very smart guy though. A TON of extra credit... anyone who cant get a B in this class should leave school now... cause your trying to fail. Tests are a little difficult, but the curve is awesome. 6 debate assignments. Good class overall!

His lectures are quite boring and seemingly unstructured. Also his tests can be very diffcult unless you study, study, study. Otherwise, it's not a bad class. The assignments outside of class are easy and there is pleny of extra credit given, so that even if you get C's on your exams you can still get a B or better.

Offers a LOT of extra credit (!!) but his lectures are boring. No visual aids during his lectures, which is what made it hard for me to keep paying attention! I'm sure he's great as an upper division proff but 101 is not his class.
