He is a great person, but this class is not what I expected a neuroscience class was suppose to be. He doesn't believe in teaching you the material, he believes that you should teach yourself (aka read the textbook and the handouts), his lectures are to add on to what you read. His test are hard and very few people pass. Don't expect to get an A.

Pretty nice guy, wants to make the class less textbook based so gives a lot of articles/handouts in class instead of using powerpoint/written notes. He shows videos sometimes. His lectures are usually interesting and the info is all pretty cool, but when it comes to tests, you're a little unsure of what to expect. Also assigns 3 response papers.

HONESTLY DONT TAKE HIS CLASS OK he really never stays on topic and he just chills in his chair and babbles the whole class. when he rarely gets up to write on the board you can't read or understand at all what he's writing because its so disorganized. I'm a psych major and almost failed. he's super unclear about assignments, and tests are SO HARD

AVOID FOR INTRO TO PSYCH. He was always off topic, never spoke about anything in the textbook, and lectures with no slides or anything. Quizzes are fill in the blank, you only do well if you cheat (cheating is bad). Test don't relate to anything he talks about and we got through half the material on the syllabus. Do not recommend!!

Hardest class. Have to teach yourself most of it, but it barely helps because the tests are so confusing. Cant get in touch with him via email. Gets off topic during lectures. I am interested in psychology but the tests are just so difficult.

Bielert is a great guy, but he had no idea how to teach this class at the level that it was. He definitely taught it like a 300 level course when it was a 200 level. Granted it was the first time it was ever offered, but it was miserable. I passed the class thanks to the papers, but failed every single test. No clarity whatsoever.

Oh god, Bielert is the worst. He's unclear in his lectures and doesn't believe in power point. He likes to hear himself talk but is totally off-topic. You better like that expensive textbook, because that's where he gets all his questions from. All in all, don't even know how I'm going to pass.

Super cool guy. his lectures sometimes are useless but i still recommend his class. he can be funny or really boring, depends on the day. you grade your own quizzes and just read the textbook before the tests and you'll do fine. side note, he likes elephants and thinks the new superman is hot

Took this class just as a general ed class and I can honestly say that it was my hardest class of the semester. nobody does well on the exams and when I went to his office hours he always forgot I was coming and barely helped me. I used the TA and had to get a tutor and I still wasn't doing as well as I should have. Take 100 with another professor.

A great teacher with a hilarious attitude about things. His quizzes are very easy (you grade them yourself) and his tests are relatively easy (just read the textbook) He's entertaining and though his ramblings are annoying he's still a great guy.

Professor Bielert is great. I really appreciated his class. I learned a lot. He does expect students to think for themselves and seems to be confused by obnoxious questions such as "how long should our paper be?" He wants students to do their best and he has a really odd/hilarious sense of humor. I recommend taking a class with him.

AWESOME PROFESSOR He is very quirky. Quizzes are easy (grade your own) but tests are kind of difficult. He lectures and goes off on a tangents. He is sarcastic sometimes but in a good way. Sometimes it's hard to take notes because he rambles much about examples instead of the actual material But he is a really great guy. TAKE A CLASS WITH THIS GUY!

he's a nice guy and is very helpful, however, I hate going to his classes. They seem a waste of my time. He doesn't use powerpoints, he just rambles on and it's difficult to take notes. You can grade your own quiz in class but his tests are extremely hard. Read the textbook!!!

Dr. Bielert is an extremely knowledgeable man. He is very laid back which sometimes is reflected in the lack of structure in some parts of the class. But he is definitely an awesome professor! A+++ instructor - don't let anyone tell you differently. If they do, they are ignorant and unwilling to truly work for a grade.

Take Psych 100 with Bielert (i before e). The class was very interesting, and he was very good at presenting the material. a few short hw assignments, done in 1 night. relatively easy quizzes. just a nice guy, talk to him briefly after lecture and get to know him. Its been about a year and he still remembers my name
