Comment:

Excellent professor. Hilarious. Thorough. He really wants good attendance, but if you miss a minimal amount, he's lenient/understanding. Overall, he cares about his students and wants to see everyone excel. He's very clear on projects, etc. Literally, there are step by step instructions on every single thing in the text book.

This was one of my favorite classes I've taken at State. Not much homework except to take pictures outside of class. The book is mandatory but has step by step instructions for just about everything you will ever need to do in the class which is awesome. The class before a test/quiz he goes through all the questionsics that will be asked too

The textbook is a course reader created by him. It's a really easy class. You basically just get graded for doing the projects, not how perfect they look. I wish we worked on more effects in Photoshop, but I did learn the essentials for good photography and editing.

Great Teacher, Awesome Class. I'd recommend anyone interested in photography or people who want to learn to shoot different kinds of pictures should take this class. Though the class was a bit of a repeat from previous classes, I still learned a new shooting technique from his class. Highly Recommend!

Very by the book, or rather, by his lengthy course reader that of course he penned himself. If you don't follow each and every step outlined by Carlson himself, you'll find yourself lost. Definitely doesn't offer much help or sympathy. Kinda takes away from the genuine interest that could have been inspired by the talented photographer he is.

This class was really easy in that you do all the work for projects during class. The only outside work is taking your photos and doing the gallery work. He's not a mean teacher at all. Sure he may joke with you sometimes or have sarcastic comments but its all in good fun; don't read into it too much. He grades pretty easy, too.

Not a very good teacher at all!! He was not helpful, and have the tendency of embarrass people infront of other students. Not encouraging nor inspiring enough to be a art teacher. He u like to get humiliated and feel like sh*t, take his class.

Yes, his lectures are quick! if you know enough photoshop you will catch everything. Make sure you at least know the basics. I recommend to buy your own camera. Quizes are easy if you read the book and study. If you show interest you will get an A. Good teacher.

He's organized, but he also whips through photoshop lectures just one time. If you miss a step, too bad. Not very patient. Needs to go over things slower or show them a second time (he has plenty of time to do so) Course is interesting if you are interested. Nice man, but treats the class like high school students.

He teaches very well. It isn't interesting necc. but you DO have to read the book and understand it. Learning photo is tricky and though I have taken classes before, this is the first one where I am forced and quizzed to know specifics. It is good for the beginner and for the amateur who really doesn't know. Not a breeze, but still good to learn.

I can't imagine what the last person was going on about. The only bitterness Craig shows is towards college students who act like they are in grade school. He is crystal clear in his instructions and expectations. Yes, he likes you to show up to class, he loves it if you actually participate and he expects you to get your work done! That is it!

He should not be a teacher. It is obvious he is bitter about having to be a teacher for money instead of being able to survive on his photography. If you try to ask for help on projects he says you have no potential. He answers calls from his wife in class (he doesn't "wear the pants"). Attend and do the project and you get full credit though.

He is a great teacher. I never really thought that I was good at photography, but after much trial and error I became better at my projects and got As on all my projects, just wish I would have done better on yhe quizzes, so I recommend studying for the quizes and u will get an A and he is very helpful and really good at teaching photoshop.

Cool class, learned a ton about Photography and even got some of my photos displayed at the end of semester (when I never thought I was that good at taking pics). Easy Class, Do the assignments and study marginally on the quizes and final your golden.
