I've had Mattson for a few classes and it's really not easy. He gives so much work compared to all of my other classes. He grades really hard and it's almost impossible to get an A. Homework every night, etc. But he's still a really nice guy and cares about his students. It's just the classwork and workload that's the problem. Be warned.

Not an easy teacher, but very smart, interesting, enjoyable. Workload is high with one page papers due every period that are based on required reading, which can be very difficult to understand. Mattson may not be the easiest professor but he is one of the best. His upper level comms courses really make you think about why you're entering the field you've chosen and the human nature of communication. He's very smart, and because of that, expects the same from you. It's no easy A but the work is rewarding.

Very inteligent and understands the comm world fully. Requires alot of work in limited time.. really pushes you and makes everyone work equally hard no matter what level your at... a must have teacher at least once. most insightful prof i have ever had.

Mattson is a very intelligent prof. He is very passionate about what he teaches but can sometimes get complicated in explaining things. He is flexible if you work with him. Dont expect an A- If you get a B...you've done a good job. Tests are incredibly wordy and confusing and very very hard. Even tho its tough- he is still an amazing prof!

Dr. Mattson runs a very hard class. That can have it's advantages, but the workload was very disproportionate for a 100 level. There was also significant confusion amongst the students regarding items in the syllabus. The structure of the course seemed unclear frequently. It is clear that this course could be tamed down.
