Comment:
Was hoping for a course that would have a lot of meat to it and provide direct methods and policy plans that could be implemented in the real world.... our class pretty much was taken up by complaining about the political climate and observing all the issues through books. Not meaty, focused, detailed, structured as one would hope...

One of my favorite professors. He will do anything to help you as long as you have interest in class/ go to his office hours. He can seem intimidating at first, however, he is very sweet and understanding. I highly recommend taking his PPLO100 course.

Professor Rimmerman is fantastic and extremely passionate about all the subjects he teaches. If you're fortunate to get into one of his classes, expect to work (and maybe not always for reasons you agree with), but also expect to be inspired.

Rimmerman is more of an English professor then a public policy or political theory professor. You really can just say or write whatever as long as it relates and you will get a good grade. The trouble is that grammar is more important then life in his class. Comma splice? C. Baby dolphins should have equal standings as people but good grammar A.

Never had such a passionate teacher who made me feel respected in the classroom and so engaged. I don't like any classes, but this one actually made me work and learn stuff that was valuable to me. I would highly recommend this professor, he is tough but if you put the effort in then you will not be disappointed.

Extremely passionate professor who relies on a variety of books to teach the class for him. He expects a lot of students, but it's worth it in the end.

Prof Rimmerman is a good prof for first year students. He has a strong liberal slant and occasionally gets worked up over topics like the war in Iraq and berates the class. He does not have a strong enough grasp of public policy to teach a higher level course. Beyond basic ideas, he is filled with emotions rather than reason.

He is a great professor and his passion really shines through. Yes, he does have set political beliefs, but I think he represents both sides of the argument - liberal and conservative. he is very passionate about HIV/AIDS policy as well as sexual minority movements - if these interest you take this class. Hard grader lots of work - but worth it.

He is an amazing teacher and awesome class, although i did drop it after about 2 weeks due to how hard it was. 100 level course with a 20 page paper? I dont think so. Everything was way over my head, i thought it was suppose to be an intro course, but it wasnt.

Seeking a passionate prof.? Rimmerman is your man. He does not hide his bias for the left, but respects strong arguments in class from the far left and also right as long as you have thought out your arguments. Rimmerman's sole mission is to engage you in the political process. Let him win, and you will not only get a decent grade, but much more!

I had waited ages to take a course with him and was VERY disappointed- Odd syllabus lacking continuity and while he was wonderful at providing the opportunity for discussion, he didn't "tie it all together." Good guy, liberal agenda (which is FINE but hardly academic impartiality) all in all, not all the hype.

rimmerman is thoughtful, very nice, interested in students, will ALWAYS make time for you. BUT his classes are disorganized, makes you read books you never discuss, goes off on tangents in lectures that have little to do with the course. spent a whole seminar talking about higher education and current politics instead of what the subject of the seminar actually was. demands a lot from your work
