Professor Shao is a talker. 90% of class time is used to share personal stories or experiences from 30 years ago. Halfway through the semester, he decided that every absence would count as 2. Tests are relatively simple since you just have to memorize powerpoints, but the class is truly miserable.

Spends hours on end patting himself on the back while not teaching any of the material. I have never seen anything like it. The room could be filled with scare crows and Shao could just blab at them about how awesome he is for an eternity.

This dude loves to ramble about nothing. One of the most prideful people I've ever met. He is the king of the humble brag. All while not realizing that all his stories have nothing to do with class. When he attempts to teach he is not clear at all. I have talked to several people in the class and non of us know what hes talking about.

Lectures are long and boring. He talks A LOT! Mainly just to hear himself I think lol. Very very nice guy. Will help bump you up if you need it. Theres only 2 tests and a final. If you do good on the first 2 (which you probably will), you dont have to take the final. Theres also a group project. Not hard. Also he never has homework. Just show up.

No tests, just easy assignments. Spends entire class with BS stories and talking about how great he is, but it's an easy A. Only downside is he never clarifies when things are actually due or what he wants done with the projects. Don't show up latemiss class and don't you dare think about going to the bathroom mid-class. Grades on attendance.

Shao is a pompous man. He rants about himself and has long stories about himself, his accomplishments. Don't be late, don't leave early. He thinks the world of himself and his class but don't fall for it. Annoying going to his class for over an hour to partake in the Dr. Shao show. Strongly DO NOT recommend at all!

Don't be late for his class. He makes you sign a "special" roll sheet, even though you're not missing anything important for the entire 1 hour and 15 minutes. Loves tangents, loves to hear himself talk. Very unorganized and unpredictable. Made us write 20 questions from each chapter because dumb people couldn't pass his tests. It's an easy A lol.

All projects will be submitted via email, but he doesn't tell you if he received them or not until 3 days before grades come out, then he will take a long time to reply to you about if he got your assignment. Also, if you have a question, don't email him, he wont answer you.

Shao is a nice person, but he can't make MIS an interesting subject. Don't stress as much as you will. He is unorganized and won't tell you things are due but expects the assignments to be turned in at the end of the semester. I did less than half of the assignments and made a good grade. He likes students who interact with him.

Dr. Shao is very nice guy and projects a lot of enthusiasm for the subject. It's not a hard class, when I took it the tests were all from the powerpoints. He goes off in tangents in his lectures sometimes but is always willing to answer questions. Easy class and at the same time very interesting.

I had Dr. Shao for MIS 290, I found the class really interesting but Dr. Shao sorta got on my nerves. He can go off talking about things not related at all for 20-30 minutes at a time, he told us all about going to the hospital, I couldn't stand it. Haven't got my final grade yet but it will probably be descent but he annoys me.

There is no way to avoid Shao. He's a nice guy, and, if he likes you, he will help you out a lot. He doesn't teach much, mostly talks about NY. His classes and tests can be pretty hard, but if he likes you, he'll help you out at the end of the semester.
