I feel so sorry that CHEM 311 is a mandatory course for students who major in chem. He is a tough grader and rarely give clear explanation to us at all! He usually made us more confused with tonnes of concepts. If you are gonna take this course, get ready to memorize everything in the textbook. btw, he also teaches CHEM 403, be careful...

Bad at explaining important concepts. Very bad at answering questions, usually makes it more confusing. Lecture notes are identical to the textbook, so you can't even get a different explanation. Expects students to know literally everything in the textbook. Said he was cracking down on "vague answers", but it's so hard to remember all the content

Terrible lecturer and and assume students understand most of his lecturer by saying 'Is that clear to everyone?' less of a question more of a statement for him to move on to the next confusing topic. Most of the concept shouldn't be hard but he's bad at explaining (using big words and not answering the questions students really meant to ask).

If a prof design a 50 minute exam that would take himself 40 minutes to finish...then you know there are problems...if the 2.5 hour final exam takes himself 2+ hours to finish...then you know there are problems...He smiles all the time, but after taking he's class you know those smiles ain't plain and simple...

He was proud of his over 20% fail rate. People who usually get all A's failed with 48's. Worst course I've ever taken.

One of the most useless profs ever. All you have to do is memorize the entire textbook, you don't even need to go to class because he is impossible to understand and mumbles all the time.

Dr.B explains the big concepts only.He expect u to read everything in textbook and you are responsible for every calculations you need to know(he will not go through!, you must read and figure on your own). Online quizzes are quite hard but its doable.

One of the toughest undergrad chem classes that I have ever taken - not tough because the material is tough but because it is quite vague nd abstract. The objective of the class is to familiarize the student with the workings of instruments like mass spec, chromatography etc. To get an A, study notes daily, do not cram and review practice exams

Hard class and exams were marked hard too. Prof's ok.. not the best at explaining, can make mistakes during lecture. He tries to be helpful. ALOT of work for a four credit course.

Know everything in his notes & the specific sections from the text he copied his notes from. OUr midterm avg = 55-65 after he added an extra 15% to our marks (yes after) but he did make the final easier(than the midterm) Know topics well, study in groups, try recording his lecture, note impt points
