Comment:

Petek is the reason I switched my major to Advertising. He has so much knowledge and experience in the industry, which is clearly seen by how he teases. He acts as a teacher, mentor, boss, and friend. He has never failed a student; he wants you to succeed just as much as we want to pass. He helps with everything in life and I am grateful for him.

The group projects were interesting. One of my groups wanted to go to Idaho for a project. I told Petek I felt uncomfortable in Idaho as a black woman. He said racism wasnt real and people make it a bigger issue than it is. I felt uncomfortable by his response. I wouldnt take a class with him again. Or recommend my friends of color too.

The activities for this class were great & well thought out. I struggled with Petek as a professor though. After a group project he once told me I should keep my head down & how he could tell I was over compensating for my lacks. He then told me if I wanted to complain to go here. I went to the Dean of Students & reported his remarks. I

Petek is a phenomenal instructor. I highly recommend taking 381 and 480 from him. I've learned more from his two classes than all of my other college courses combined.

I've been out 10 years and remember Dan. It bothers me that he feels the need to judge appearances. I'll say this: I learned about using qualitative in this class, and that was the # reason I got hired in my first job. A skill learned in a class directly resulted in my whole career. What more can you ask for from a college education?

BEST CLASS EVER. Yes, it is rigorous, but you will learn more in this class than the past 3 years combined. This is real world experience. He critiques you like you would in a real advertising position.

this class is like a full time job at a real agency. It will take a lot of time and effort, if you aren't prepared to work hard you shouldn't be in this industry. Also my advice is fire as many incompetent people at the beginning, don't wait to see if they magically become smart (they won't)

I wish every student in every field could experience a professor like Petek. It's tough, but you learn solid, real-world stuff that matters most with hands-on work that will ultimately give you a leg up in the competition outside of school. I solidified my passion for adver. due to his passion and influence. Education through Petek is priceless.

I can say without a doubt that Petek is the reason I am so interested in advertising, and the reason I have a job following graduation. My classmates and I learned so much from Petek during Ad480, and it was an experience I will remember for a lifetime. You will hate him and love him for it, but it is all worth it. Best class at WSU.

This guy is the man. On top of knowing stuff, putting students through multiple semesters of trial and error projects, and reflecting on decades of experience in his lessons, he ACTUALLY CARES ABOUT HIS STUDENTS! It is easy to see how much students grow from the beginning to the end of the semester. It's not advertising without Petek.

Petek knows his stuff. He's smart and has lots to share about his profession. But he definitely picks favorites- no doubt about that. He loves his NSAC kids the most and it kinda feels like his rides off the rest of us. But he's super informative and fun to learn from. He lets out class early every day too. expect a 30 min class tops.

Best professor at WSU. Learned more from Petek in my last two years there then my entire tenure as a Coug. Encouraged me to apply to Miami Ad School and continue in ad field. Lack of sleep from AD 480 truly prepared me for lack of sleep in Ad World.

I learned more from Petek than anyone else at WSU. Hands down. I work for an agency in Seattle now and I still use what Petek taught me and I am way ahead of the game. He's hard...but I guarantee if you want to be in advertising...you'll appreciate every minute.
