Why did people like him? Had to have him as a teacher 5 times, he wasted class time on Eugene, Oregon, played favorites with hot girls/PRSSA members in class, embarrassed non-favorites in front of the whole class, shared grades out loud to all. Tests didn't mirror material given. Unrealistic teaching style. Osei Appiah was a much better professor.

Dan is a GREAT teacher. I've had him for two classes and you can tell that he is genuinely interested in helping his students. He would provide opportunities for students to take trips to gain insight into the PR field. Yeah, he talks about his job a lot (esp in 431) but he's a fun teacher and if you do your work, you should be able to get an A.

Dan was by far the most influential and helpful professor I had at OSU. His classes were practical and he always combined theory with real world examples. I would not have chosen PR as a career if it had not been for Dan.

He tells stories rather than class material. His exams are very tricky. He states questions oddly, and then the answers are all very similar, making you second guess yourself. I wish I had had a different teacher.

I'm surprised that so many people like Dan. Although he is nice, he plays favorites very obviously. He loves football players and PRSSA members. Dan was unrealistic, having us work in groups of 7-10. We aren't in a work setting, we are still in college and have to work his class around all others. However, Dan is a nice guy outside of class.

Dan is by far the best professor I have had. He is really easy to talk to and makes learning enjoyable. It's nice to notice that a professor enjoys their job and cares about helping students. If you have to chance to have Dan for a Comm. class - take it. I have learned a great deal from him and his stories which prepare us for the future.

Great guy, learned a lot in his class. Tries to get to know everyones name, very interactive with the class. Not a real traditional teaching style.

Great instructor, offers a lot of out of the classroom help. Considered about his students and always wants to help them with internships and out of the classroom related items.

tests don't reflect what he's taught in class, likes to talk about himself, only likes students who are in PRSSA or athletes, doesn't belong in the classroom - should go back to the professional world

I agree with the other comments: if you're not in PRSSA/an athelete/one of his favorite, you might as well be invisible. His class is very dry-Often goes off into small talks: some were amusing - majority of them were useless/pointless. Had a bad episode one week and went off at the students (still very upset at how unprofessional he was).

EWwwwww if you're not in PRSSA, or a football player, he won't like you. I couldn't stand his class b/c he spent so much time talking about what his precious PRSSA club was doing. If you're not a favorite of his, don't take his class.

Fantastic prof. Tells corny jokes, but funny enuf. He prefers girls, but if you are a guy he doesn't hate you, in fact he will be nice, but just pays more attention to the ladies. VERY interesting subject matter that he teaches. VERY helpful to know after you graduate to help land a good job.
