It has been quiet a while since I was in one of Mr. Thorpe's class, I'm now attending grad school. Just wanted to take a moment to say how great of a teacher he is. Hands down the best teacher I have ever had from 1st grade all the way through the current grad degree I'm working on. I would not take an English class with any other professor.

My hs English classes were very advanced, so I don't know that I really learned anything NEW, but this guy is pretty great. Very funny man, discussion-based class, likes to encourage students to arrive at the conclusion themselves. Knows his subject well. His handwriting should be a font! XD Don't buy the textbook, he makes copies. Take him! =)

Mr. Thorpe is awesome! I took him for English 101 and 102 and was sad that he didn't teach 103. His assignments are clear, the material is covered and he doesn't talk down to you. And he's a cutie!

For all those non-English majors/easy A seekers/busy ppl out there, take his class.. the workload is very manageable. However, there is really only one main/real assignment which is the 10-12 pg paper, but he always finds something nice about everyones writing. He's easygoing, lenient, and I believe everyone's final grade was a B at the lowest.

I took Prof for 1101; liked him so I took him again for Honors Eng 1102. This professor makes you want to come to class. He is there for you whenever you need him. His quizzes are interesting and you had to do a 12 page term paper on a character in the novel or pick a theme parallel to the novel. Fun class. I highly recommend taking his class.

He is a very cool teacher. Always late for the class, but he doesn't care much.. He also doesn't care about the quality of his assignments. You can turn in your papers whenever you want. His assignments are very easy. You don't learn much in his class, but its easy to get good grade. Easy A or B.

Professor Thorpe's a wonderful teacher. I took his Honors English class during Spring '07, and had a great time. The assignments were compelling and fun to do, and in-class discussions were quite fun. I absolutely recommend taking him for a class if you can.

He is a very good english teacher. I took him for summer school. He has an ear to hear your papers. summer school was fun with him. He is laid back, not picky, just do your work, write your heart out....He is awesome. He is not sooo strict..so just respect the rules and youll walk out with an A!

Very boring class. All you do is talk about boring stories. You NEVER use the book so dont bother buying it. IF you go to class regularly you'll get an A. Class is based on a few quizzes, a book report, a test and a few papers. If you dont mind being bored for an hour at a time take prof thorpe and ur guarenteed an A!!!

Interesting because you can write whatever. No definate time to turn in papers, so you don't have to worry if you fall behind. Very helpful: he corrected lots of my papers for other classes--saw it as an extension of his own class. Definatelly take him.

If you are looking for an EASY honors class, take Mr. Thorpe. He is an excellent professor. I've never had an easier english class in my life. The books we read were a little boring, but the coursework is easy. We write about 5 or 6 prompts for each book, but they are easy and fun because we can write about ourselves instead of the book, as long as it pertains to a general idea in the book. He lets us be very free with our writing, which is always a nice quality to look for in an english teacher. Most of the class time was spent listening to the other students' writing. How easy is that? He grades easy too. Sometimes he talks in a monotone, but you can easily get over that since we practically do nothing in class! I highly recommend him, but register as soon as possible, as his classes always fill up fast!

He is the best!!! It's hard not to get an A in his class. He's funny and lets you out early sometimes. He is always willing to help you. I would definately take him again!!!
