Boxberger seems like an okay person but you would be better off watching paint dry than attending his class. If you hate group projects, don't take this class.

Very unorganized. No grading rubric or clear assignment criteria. Will grade assignments down for not hitting non-existent rubric. Does not convey information to students. Will not answer student questions.

Everything is a multiple choice test, which would be fine if you knew what to actually study for. Class averages on test at best were 76% and the lowest was at 70%. He is extremely dry and hard to stay awake in his lectures. Worst teacher I have ever had on campus. I have never struggled so much in a class before

If you have a background in philosophy/theory/anthropology you should do well in this class. His midterm/final are HUGE but actually worth it, the weekly chapter quizzes or "selfies", are so simple it balances out (you can find them online FYI). Soft speaker, but really a great professor.

He talks very quiet and is extremely boring and taxing to listen to. His lectures were long and very unhelpful when it came to any assignment or essay. For his midterm exam he gave us 4 days to write three 1500-3000 word essays on extremely difficult topics. His grading is unfair and it was extremely difficult to learn anything from his course.

Very long, dull lectures every single class. Tends to ramble off. Barely talks loud enough for the class to hear, so it's really hard to pay attention. There is biweekly paper assignments, and the midterm was three 1500 word essays. The midterm was the hardest thing I've ever done.

Boxberger seems like a nice guy but he's a TERRIBLE professor. Hard to hear him, boring lectures, not engaging at all, doesn't know how to answer questions. For the midterm, he gave us the essay prompts three days before the essays were due and expected us to write a minimum of 15 pages. Yeah, that's 4500 words in 3 days. He also gave us no rubric.

His lectures are SO DRY AND BORING. He doesn't use a mic and can hardly speak loud enough for the first few rows to hear him. Also, I'm not sure if this is anthropology in general or just his course, but the wording on every test question is so needlessly dense and complicated, I had a hard time understanding them half the time.

Very dry, monotone lectures. Easy to fall asleep in class. You'd be better off just reading the textbook instead.

Daniel for me, I found that he was a pretty good teacher. He is very passionate about his work and shares a lot of examples to what we are learning. Its very easy to get the concepts down if you just pay attention to the slides. You don't really have to read the book since he writes all the importan things on te slides. Over all he is pretty good

Nice guy, very passionate about his work. His lectures are a little long and rambling, but take notes, since his powerpoints are a little bare-bones. I have the feeling he'd be a lot better to have in a small discussion class, rather than a larger lecture. Still learned a lot, there's quite a bit of interesting material.

His lectures are very long. It's hard to take notes because he won't write anything down and his slides are very, very bare. He easily goes off in tangents. He's awkward to talk to both in class and outside of it. As long as you go to class though you should be okay. There are no assignments: only 2 midterms and the final, so study.

He is probably the worst teacher I have every had. He has a monotone voice that drones on for an hour and a half. I wish I knew this before I signed up for this class. He talks about things that aren't relative to the curriculum, so I don't know what is significant to the class or not. I feel like I haven't learned one thing this entire quarter.

I've been to class about 6 times all quarter and 2 of those times was only because there was a test. I found Boxberger pretty nice a interesting but lectures are so boring and based strictly out of the book so I stopped going. Every time I went to class I fell asleep.

He's a really interesting professor to take the class with, but he goes off on a lot of tangents. I really enjoyed listening to everything he had to say though not all of it was necessary. Make sure you do the reading because a lot of the test is based off of it.

I was really excited for a chance to expand my understanding of what Anthropology is, but I could not have chosen a worse professor. There is no class participation, his lectures put me to sleep, and it's the same thing every day. He could not make his travels and experiences sound any more boring. Very disappointed.

He was so knowledgeable about this subject and you could tell he enjoyed it. His lectures were a bit longboring but most of the material was interesting to learn about. He was also a very easy grader, he didn't want his students to fail. His exams were straight forward, and his final had questions from the two previous exams.

Professor Boxberger teaches his subject with passion and a good sense for humor. He is very helpful in that he tries to teach students important concepts rather than technical and historical details. He is clear about what he will ask on his exams and very good at answering your questions in class. Show respect toward him and the subject.

Comment:
Dr. Boxberger makes the subject much harder than it needs to be. He is not clear or very well organized, his stories, meant to increase understanding, lack emphasis and clarity of tone and content. The Socratic Method is entirely absent in his style, in fact, I think Socrates would turn in his grave to witness the lack of passion and engagement.
