Prof. Cooke is a difficult task master. He seems close-minded and somewhat abrasive in the beginning, and for the most part that doesn't change throughout the semester. He grades harshly, only accepting specific answers, leaving no room for interpretation. You learn about many philosophies but, don't attempt to draw outside the lines. Thumbs Down!

Cook is temperamental, plays favorites, & despises youth today in claims that they are so lazy and not constructive. He does drop the lowest 3 grades out of 7, but the tests are fair and thorough. Cook grades VERY harshly and cuts no slack. I have NO clue how i landed an A- in this class. Please dont go through what i did. DONT TAKE HIM.

Comment:
A man who looks through a telescope and tries to explain what he cannot see. Seems to be harsh, but he is quite humorous. I categorically reject his viewpoints, but he is not a bad guy. Do not give him any excuse whatsoever--he does not care. Do four assignments and avoid excessive absences at all cost--end of story. Not impossible to earn an A.

The only reedeming factor about the class is that he counts only 4 out 7 exams for your overall grade. Other than that his office hours suck just 10 minutes, he's not clear about the concepts, and he's a harsh grader. You might have part of the answer and he'll still mark it wrong.

i'm usually an A student with little work. for his class, i worked my butt off every night and struggled for an A-. i took him in the summer and he didn't offer any opportunity to drop grades. but he is a very good and clear professor.

Eccentric. Unpredictable. Aggressive. Complex. From the first class I immediately sensed the class was going to be tough. But strangely he was very helpful outside class, and I got through. If you're having trouble you should let him know. He is not as bad as he might seem at first.

if you have a naturally logical way of thinking, you'll do well. you need to attend class & put in a good amount or work, but he's an extremely fair grader. if you know logic from math classes & apply it to your essays, you'll get a good grade.
