I took honor sociology 1010 with him. The lecture and the course itself is quite fun and intriguing; professor Daniel Egan is excellent at explaining the topics for his student to understand. Attendance is mandatory, your grade will go down after a couple absent, also his tests are quite difficult because it's an essay form and not multiple choices

Comment:

Fantastic professor who helps get you engaged with the material. Social Theory 1 was easy; as long as you understand the theorists and write the papers, you don't need to use the book all that much (if at all). Attendance isn't mandatory and he's really understanding with late work and personal issues.

Probably the best teacher I have had while here at UML. Does take attendance but understand if you're sick/have a family emergency. I have already taken 3 classes with him and plan to take more!

Professor Egan is in the top 3 professors I have ever had the pleasure of having a class with. There's a lot of writing, but he is a fair grader, and will write numerous comments on how to improve next time. Follow his suggestions and you'll do better. There's a reason I took 4 of his classes in 3 different semesters.

Hes a great Professor, you definitely NEED to go to class to get a good grade, and take very good notes. If you talk to him and if you don't understand something he will gladly sit down with you and explain everything. Short essays for every assignment. 3 five page papers and an 8 pg final. no tests.

This guy is awesome. Knows his subject very well. Very approachable and helpful if you ask. Low pressure atmosphere however you need to know the material to understand and apply concepts to assignments. Very in depth analysis and a good amount of reading.

Brilliant Prof. Knows his material extremely well. Work included: three 5 page essays (which are challenging) and a final essay of 3 pages. He gives extra credit which helps, but if you suck at writing then I do NOT recommend. He expects high quality work from the essays. His essay topics really make you think hard.

Egan is a passionate teacher and he truly enjoys his students. He's also funny which makes the time go fast. I'm taking Social Theory 1 and there are 3 major papers that R 5 pages long and a couple of reflextion papers to, but they're 2 pages max. Take any class with Egan you won't regret it!

Professor Egan is one of the best I have ever had. He is passionate about what he teaches and he is very fair and easy to talk to if you need help. He is open minded and willing to hear all views and perspectives. I hate sociology, but the sociology of deviance class with him is excellent and very interesting because of his teaching style.

I took Soc Theory 1 this past sem. and loved it. Egan makes class interesting. He's understanding/accomodating if you get sick/cant come to class for some reason. You will learn a lot in this class but it is so interesting!Graded by: Three 5pg papers=20% ea.- 2 one pg papers=7.5% - one final paper (3pgs) 15%. The rest is based on attendance/part.

Incredible Professor! Take a class with Egan because he is brilliant. He makes difficult concepts approachable for everyone. His classes and the discussions are fun and engaging. The work load is moderate and not too time consuming.
