Dr. Gordon is one of the best professors in the Department. I took 497 with him and enjoyed every moment. He is funny, knowledgeable, very smart and a great human being all around. Class was always enjoyable, and I learned the most I have ever learned about Econometrics. He clearly cares about his students and is very helpful if you have questions

Babbles, and rambles, and insists everything is "easy peasy". It gets hard to go when you buy the text book and he is using slides from the people that make the text book. Like come on, maybe actually make your own material. He is also super heavy on how to derive the formulas and not use them.

I'm completely shocked at the negative reviews on here about Dr. Gordon. He is one of the best teachers I've had at the U of C. He's enthusiastic, approachable and friendly. I had no interested in econometrics before this class but now I'm signed up to take 495 with him next semester!

"XtransposeXinverseXtransposeY" ...ah, good old Danno. How I yearn for his 419 class after the raping I took from Rowse in 387/389. Love how he (indirectly) called the department head an "ugly old person" (my sentiments exactly!) and constantly poked fun at the "creepy little man" Atkins. Knows his**** when it comes to model specification and diagnostic testing. Totally let us down with time series econometrics, however (he doesn't know it)! The course needs to be split up into two...gordon for model specification and atkins for time-series & applications. Restored my interest in econometrics after being taught ****-all in Moldovan's 315 class.

DO NOT take this class from Gordon. He is out of touch with the students and you WILL need to know calculus, and you WILL need to be able to learn on your own with the help of other text books and materials. Ruined the class for me.

He goes into way more detail than the text does and his notes are terrible, so you're pretty much screwed from the start. Do not take this class with him, he expects you to be like a grad student and econometrics can be very tough to study on your own. He is way to detailed.

Smart guy. Straight forward tests. He likes it best when you get help from him during office hours. However, if you go during other times, he'll assist you. Very dynamic and spontaneous individual. I can't see how people could not like this dude.

His assignments were brutal. Went to him for help, all he does is pulls out the answer key. His marking is brutal too, wants every little detail. Do the practice exams but I can't gurantee you will get a good mark since he's so picky.
