Comment:
Although Prof. Kauffman does know his material and I have little doubt he is a brilliant man and knows what he's talking about, it is extremely difficult to pay attention to his lectures. Only 3-4 tests all semester long, no homework, all graded on a curve. Personally I learned a ton more material and learned it faster by just going to the library.

This professor is very difficult to follow, he gets off topic very easily and I honestly have no idea what he is talking about half the time. DO NOT take this professor if possible.

Dan Kauffman was a terrible professor. I DO NOT RECOMMEND. We had 3 tests throughout the semester which accounted for my whole grade. The class average for tests were D's and below. He doesn't curve either.

Kauffman is a pretty cool guy. Class was interesting and while tests were tough--multiple choice and a free response section that he graded strictly--his generous curve made it reasonable to achieve a decent grade.

Awful, doesn't explain material at all. Class avg was a 60%. The only good thing is he curves pretty hard, but don't expect to get an easy A.

I would NOT recommend this teacher to any one ever! Very boring and hard to learn from requires a book but you wont use it in class. Class average test score are around 50. I know awful right? The only good thing he does is grade on a curve but even then class average scores are low.

Dr. Kauffman is a friendly, approachable guy who knows economics; however, he teaches only through lectures, and sometimes they're confusing. The textbook can help make concepts more clear. He tells many personal stories, but they do mostly relate to economic concepts, and they can be helpful. He does grade on a large curve.

kauffman is a boring professor and rambles on and on about personal stories and random examples that make concepts even more confusing and difficult to understand. very nice guy and knows his stuff but is TERRIBLE at explaining things. tests are impossible and everyone fails but he curves and gives a few extra credit quizzes. would NOT recommend.

Comment:
Boring and unclear lecture, he spends most of the time just telling stories that he tries to relate back to economics but they are usually very confusing and waste a lot of time. Tests are insanely hard but he curves the class grades so if you get 50% you should get a C. You can also find the textbook online for much cheaper than the bookstore.

His lectures can be a bit dull at times, but that's not his fault. It's just not a very exciting topic. He understands that it can be difficult at time, and gives students multiple chances for extra credit. There is no homework, and I did not use my textbook very frequently.

very tough class and he dosent make it easier by the way he teaches. goes off topic alot and you will end up teaching yourself the material before tests. very hard tests but offers a lot of extra credit. might take him again. tests are bassed off the textbook 100%

I just took this class. He doesn't upload grades to online at all. He gave us 3 tests and an optional test to replace our lowest score (no homework or quizzes). I didn't learn anything in class. He goes off on random tangents the entire time. The average on tests was in the 50's. You have no idea what your grade is until he posts it after semester.

Lectures were so boring. Tests are hard. But he has a HUGE curve which makes it all worth it. I had a C all year and ended with an A. What he is saying actually makes sense, he just usually over explains it. I would take it again

awful professor, avoid at all costs. teaches absolutely nothing, just rambles about personal stories during class. had the second highest score on test for each test and still got a C in the class. he made me hate economics and is the reason i am switching my major.

Nice guy, means well, knows economics.. but I didn't learn much from his class. I don't think it was too difficult of material, but most people consistently skip class (kind of dull lectures no attendance) which leads to bad test scores. The highest percentage was only around 80%, but he grades on a big curve so that student received an A

Kauffman is a great person, but horrible teacher. He goes on and on during his lectures brings up personal stories. He does not use any of his own material. To pass, you will have to teach yourself and really read the book. I would avoid him at all costs.
