Not sure if the course is right, as I took Margolies' classes last year, however I wanted to say that he is great. Very intellectual and forces you to learn and be responsible for your own learning. Loves what he does and is very funny.

Margolies is a hard grader and his lectures usually go off on to other topics. You do need to participate in class or else he will pick on you and its part of your grade. You read a lot of books, like 6-8, and talk about them in class. In this class we had a 10-12 pg research paper and he is a tough grader but if you try then you will pass.

Never knew what he was talking about, and even when you understood where he was or what he was saying, he still wasn't clear about anything. Grades very hard. Grades as if he's an english professor. Never clear about what exactly to read half of the time.

A lot of reading is required. Long papers.. just don't wait until the last minute to write the papers. Keep up with the readings because he likes to discuss them in class. He's a real intellectual and very attractive!

Comment:
Dr. Margolies is arrogant. To the point I dropped History as one of my majors. Every paper I did that disagreed with him scored low. Every paper where I agreed with his skewed POV scored high. Ridiculous. He honestly loves to hear himself talk. About beekeeping and bluegrass music. Can we stay on topic for once, please? And can we agree to disagree

Comment:
The # could be incorrect, title was US Foreign Relations to 1919. IF YOU DON'T DO THE READING YOU WILL FAIL. He expects your best participation, and writing. He will take the time to help, but can be VERY condescending. He means well, but his intelligence and arrogance can ruin his intentions. Hang in there and don't be afraid to fire back!
