On a sad note, Danny Brower unexpectedly died on October 5,2007. It will be good if all the students who had him, whether they liked him or not, mourn his loss, since he was a valuable professor for MCB 181 here at U of A

This man was an inspiration. A model of what a college professor should be, strikingly eccentric in his appearance and way of teaching, he will truly inspire you if you devote yourself to the class. I am an average student and got a 98% in his first test, not because it was easy, but because I liked what he was teaching; it was fascinating. If your

Dr. Brower was an excellent professor. Although his tests were not easy A's, especially his first test, he was very approachable and his office hours were a great asset. I ended up with a B in his class, despite getting a low C on the first test. I highly recommend Dr. Brower for anyone who wants a class where they can learn and enjoy simultaneousy

His lectures were fun to listen to, but the tests are impossible. You think you are doing really well and understand all the material, and then you get the beautiful D on the first final and because there are only two grades, exam, 25%, exam, 25%, then final, 50%... you are pretty much royally screwed no matter what.

Easy A. All you have to do is look at last years tests; there are only 3 including the final and all questions are T/F!!

He is a good professor if you have previous biology experience as well as interest. If you are not interested in the field and or if this is your first biology class ever, I recommend avoiding him. If you're absolutely stuck in his course, take advantage of the office hours! Best of luck.

His lectures are very confusing...he only shows pictures from the textbook and explains it. It's difficult to find what the key points are and really hard to take notes. Although his tests are fairly easy, he doesn't prepare you well for exams at all. If you're good at just studying from the textbook and don't like going to class, take this class.

Despite numerous bashings on Prof. Brower, I found his nerdy humor to be entertaining. I also found he focused more on concept rather than memorization. As everyone else has noted his tests are T/F. He gives you last years tests which are nearly the same as the one he will give you meaning you have to be pretty brainless to fail his course.

An enthusiastic guy, but a horrible teacher. Gives vague lectures (no notes online), and the tests are ambiguous as hell (T/F). If you're a good guesser, you'll do great in his class, because barely anything in his lectures are on his tests. I wish I was warned of this class beforehand, I definitely regret taking it.

He is an awful teacher. He seriously teaches nothing and then tests you on everything. It is next to impossible to do well unless you have already taken biology- but then, why are you taking it? He's terrible. Seriously, I wish someone had warned me.

His notes are horrible, the resources consist of a new "animal" every time we have class, and crappy teaching methods. I learned more from my TA, and the true/false tests don't really test our knowledge of what we've learned, they're more like correct statements with one word changed to make it false but hard to detect.

with only two tests (25% of grade each) and a final that's worth 50% of you grade, there is little chance for error. There are no even optional homework problems. In the first seven lectures, we have been "taught" 8 chapters of material. The tests are mostly true and false with some short answer, and the questions (if his sample exam with no answer key is any indication) are tricky with one word that could mess up the entire thing. Don't take this class!!
