Dr. Mallien needs a hobby.She has so much time to prepare for her classes that she overwhelms her students. I understand doing this to show what real teachers go through, but we also have 12-15 other credit hours we have to deal with too. She has the best intentions, but I think she was better off teaching middle school.

Seriously, how can you not like her? She's nice, very knowledgeable, and enjoys teaching. If you have a bad grade or are on bad terms with her its because you are either lazy or shouldn't be a teacher. It's her job to weed out those unfit to teach.

This teacher is very competent. She knows a lot and as long as you do what she says and do not question it you will do fine. I did very well in Student Teaching in spite of her telling me that I did not have what it takes to be a teacher and that I should not get into the profession. Even though Dr. Mallein works her students hard, the hard work pays off during student teaching. I was better prepared than some of the other student teachers who were from other universities. They didn't know near as much as I did about preparing lessons and/or selecting strategies. She's tough but good.

Dr. Mallein is tough but you learn a lot in her classes. We are given a ton of information that not only helps us in Phase but also student teaching. Students who complain about Dr. Mallein are usually lazy or get dropped from the program because they don't have what it takes to be a good teacher.

After looking at her web page, it is easy to see her ego. How else can one explain taking it upon one's self to change the stereotypical methods, such as lecture and video, that history teachers have used for millenia. If it was good enough for Plato and Socrates, it's good enough for me.
