Comment:
Definitely a challenging course. Lectures are long and usually dry, but the professor clearly knows his stuff. He will be helpful if you see him during office hours, but he shows no favoritism and is a very fair, clear cut professor.

This class is difficult, SO much reading. But make sure you at least understand what's going on in the reading or you will be screwed for the 1 and only test at the end of the semester. He does not teach you at all, you teach yourself. JOIN A STUDY GROUP AT BEGINNING OF SEMESTER!! Our class started meeting at end of semester & had so much work todo

Attendance is not mandatory, but will help if you're interested in HR. Open book/notes for tests. No homework. I think he's the best professor I've had @SDSU. Straightforward & doesn't solicit ego stroking for grade increases with the "come see me during office hours" thing that is so popular w/SDSU professors.

Easy class. 3 open book & note tests, no additional assignments. Lectures are boring but not mandatory since he puts the Powerpoints online and his test questions come straight out of the book. Just buy the book, take it with you to tests, and you will be fine.

3 exams all open book and open note. Lectures are dry but he has a lot to teach. Class is not mandatory but i do recommend going. You can survive the exams by just opening the book during the exams but might run out of time. But if you do that, whats the point of taking the class? Buy the text book not the online book.

This class is not too bad, I don't know why many think its tough. All I did was go to class, write down notes and open the book during test. I mean, it was OPEN book/notes so theres no reason to fail. Would take again.

TAKE THIS CLASS! Idk why all these other comments say how difficult and hard this class is because it is not.. First off, open note open book test. GO TO CLASS, write down all the notes, outline the book and you will get an A on the test. Put in a lil work and you will get a good grade and learn a lot he knows his stuff. 10/10.

Pugh is really tough but very knowldegable. Only 3 exams, no room for messing up however he does curve the exams in the end. GO TO EVERY CLASS. Be prepared to take tons of notes, so if you have a laptop to type your notes while the lectures are going on, I highly recommend it. Keep up and read the book.

He is difficult. I took him for PA 600, so it was no surprise! His research paper grade rubric is tough, he will butcher your paper, so get a good partner. His class lectures are dull, he is old school so he has boring power point slides. I havent taken the test but I am sure since its open book/note it will be tough!

Homework was to read a ton of really boring articles and to write briefs about the reading. Not collected so more than half the class didn't do it. The screening exam was the worst. It was hard. Study groups help.

He gave half the class a C and yelled at us in the last 5 minutes of the class. I don't understand how that is considered quality teaching.

This class is pretty simple. He is funny and tries to make the class as interesting as possible. Attend class and take good notes because its an open notes/book. The tests are a bit tricky. He curves so it helps a lot. Try to exchange notes with another person in the class. Overall I recommend him.

This class was a terrible experience. Really? You have to read us the Constitution out loud at 8pm in a graduate course? You assume we are all from a political science background? Thank God I got an A and now I can move on to learn information I will actually use in my career.

Test are hard but he curves the class based on the highest overall scores on the tests, 3 in total.I got an A with the curve and a C without. Go to class (record it if you can) and read. Test are tricky because he allows open book and note.

Prof Pugh's class was challenging and the first test was a bit tricky but overall it was pretty easy to get an A. Easy in that you have to do the readings and study. The semester-long group project kind of sucks because there are students that want a handout and will avoid helping the group at all costs. I'd take Prof Pugh again.

Pugh sucks. Avoid him if you can but doubt you will succeed since he seems to be the gatekeeper for certain required classes. His grading leaves very little room for error. His (2) tests are designed to trick you, not test actual knowledge learned. Even study notes don't help when test questions have obscure stats rather than real course themes.

Extremely difficult tests! Doesn't use blackboard and its nearly impossible to contact him. Group work sucks if people in your group don't do their part.

He is a great professor who really gets you interested in the subject. He is funny and is very fair. His grading is clear cut. 2 exams -most of material from text, but some from lectures - so you want to go to lectures. The rest is participation.

I got an A-. Read the textbook and refer to it in the open note/open book test and its fine. Tests are a little tricky but its not that bad. Not a passionate teacher and always utilizes law terminology
