Comment:
Gives very little partial credit, exams are really tough and he makes the class much harder than it needs to be. Expect questions far beyond the textbook and in class examples. He just doesn't care for teaching and it shows

This guy is incredibly smart. His problem lies in just that. He almost explains things in such an advanced way for a calc 2 class. Great theory guy and really lets you understand the reasoning behind everything. The tests are made by the department so pretty challenging.

He is a very smart guy, though his lectures are horrible. He hardly Explains the concepts, merely showing the online notes. He would be better served as a theory of math instructor as whenever he goes over a topic he describes it in some arbitrary way of playing in a sandbox or grocery shopping

Comment:
Professor McGinnis was overall not a bad professor. He gives a lot of homework, especially for a 2 credit hour class. I got a 100% on the first midterm and a 90% on the second, so the class is definitely manageable. Our final was take home to compensate for the hard homework and midterms. Expect to read the textbook; it's more useful than lecture.

Daryl is very smart but he is an awful teacher. To make matters worse he gives out loads of homework, even over spring break. Notes are on the board as he wizzes through them, class has been LESS than helpful. If you take him, you will have to teach yourself everything. This material is extremely difficult, and taught as if you're a mat major AVOID

McGinnis really knows his stuff. He puts his notes online so that you can reference them . However, when it comes to lectures he just reads off the notes. He also goes really fast. I also had a bad TA so the class was difficult. However, if you read the book and go to the MSLC you can do fine.

Professor McGinnis might have been one of the worst teachers I have ever had. He always seemed to be arrogant if you went to ask him a question, and his lectures were just going over online notes previously given to you. If you work hard you should be able to do decent, but you may need to look for outside sources for help.

Online, he is by far the most helpful lecturer I have had. All of his notes are online along with test prep etc. In lecture, he mumbles and reads off pre-written slides that he scrolls through waaaay too fast. Most people I know end up falling asleep because he's boring and the pace is too fast to keep up anyway. Thank God for my amazing TA.

McGinnis definitely knows his stuff. He has all his notes online, however during class he just went over these notes. Made it really hard to pay attention with no actual problems being done in class and if it wasn't for such an amazing TA, my gr would have been worse than it already was. Some like him, I didn't learn anything from him.

I had McGinnis as a TA, and he was very helpful, considering I had a terrible lecturer. He is very smart and knows a lot about math. Quizzes and amount of homework problems were fair. The only thing that disappointed me was that he sometimes would try to answer a question with a "similar" problem that ended up looking nothing like what you asked.

If you are taking 151 this is the professor you want to have. He posts all his notes online, as well as old quizzes that are identical to those which you take during the year. He provides great examples and tells you exactly what you need to know. I left another lecture to come to his because I heard it was the best and he sure didn't let me down.

Awesome TA. Explained everything really thoroughly, gave us tons of examples and posted old quizzes and tests online so we would be able to study better. Came off as kind of a jerk at first, but really a good guy once you get to know him. Definitely saved my grade in 152.

Exactly like what's said below. If you want to get a good grade in 132, he's going to show you how to do it. Go to every one of his recitations and you will know what you're doing. Kind of comes of as a jerk at first, but he's really a great guy. Sometimes he might even say something funny.

By far, he is the best professor teaching 132. His notes are all online, and are incredibly detailed, but not complicated. Lectures are crystal clear.I think he curves final grades though not 100% sure about this), so if you work and study hard you actually have a chance of getting a good grade. Highly recommended, take him if you can!

He expects you to do what you need to in order to learn material. Collected one hw assignment over entire 10-week period. Quizzes once a week, 3 midterms in a quarter. He's a nice guy, and he looks like Orlando Bloom.
