I had Dave Allen for Music Marketing. It was by far one of the easiest classes I've taken at SJU. No need for paying attention or putting effort, his class is super easy. Best use of a free elective.

Really like the class, especially the guest speakers. All tests are online and theres a semester long group project. He is really willing to help and has some connections across different fields. Would recommend taking him!

Easiest class I've taken so far. All exams including the final are online so it's easy to get an A. Then there's a case study & project that are super easy. The classes involved watching commercials & discussing the music in them + guest speakers. I can't get over how easy it was, plus Allan is super chill. I would take him if you get the chance!

I really enjoyed the class, he truly cares about his students and their future. The group project isn't bad if you pick a good company. Tests are straight off the study guide. Guest speakers were amazing.

Great class, limited seating available. Great discussions. Mid Term is open note, laptop, etc. Field trips are taken to various sources of media (KYW, Fox News, Philly Mag, Inquire). Great prof. that will help you get your foot in the door of the MKTG./COMM. world. Take!

This guy is completely full of himself. He brags about his days as a radio DJ every class. He has some knowledge of the business but its readily becoming outdated. Never turn in anything late it WILL be a zero, attendance is a grade, and I'm not sure what basis he grades his papers on. you can do well, I got a B+, but you won't like him.

Comment:

One of the cockiest teachers I have ever had. Very full of himself and initially it comes off rude. However, the class is not hard at all. Three tests and an optional final, as well as a group project. Would recommend the class, easy to get a B+ or B. He takes attendance but your friends can sign you in if you skip.

Prof Allen likes to advertise himself as being a much better prof than he is. Class itself does not involve much teaching, just powerpoint slides. You can do well on the exams and I recommend you do because that is the only grade YOU have some control over. Otherwise he's a suspicious grader and very short with you. Seems nice, actually isn't.

He is a nice guy but very short with you. He will answer emails quickly and is pretty helpful. Tests are more difficult than advertised. It was an ok class, sometimes it got boring but overall it was interesting. I wouldn't reccommend him but I wouldn't tell people to avoid either.

By far my favorite professor at SJU test were easy as long as you studied the study guides he gave you. We hardly ever stayed in the class the whole time. One big project at the end of the semester. Optional final. Deff take him!!

I really wanted to like this guy: in the beginning of class he seemed like a good guy, but as the semester went on, he turned more and more into a bully....he tells you every class about how he used to be a radio DJ and makes you feel like hes doing you a favor by being there. I got a very high grade, just an honest opinion.

Good lectures. Keeps students interested. However, tests from the textbook but doesn't teach from it. Textbook is AWEFUL! Tremendously boring. Case studies are interesting and really useful. Important to organize your thoughts and do a little outside research rather than just give your thoughts. Overall, I'd recommend him.

Professor Allen is a greatttt teacher! You're so lucky if you get to take him. He has 4 exams in Marketing Communications, all of which are easy, and drops the lowest grade. Therefore, you don't even have to come to the final if you do well in the other 3. Great teacher, very enthusiastic, and cares about his students.. cool guy!
