Zips through material in a disorganized way, uses his hand scribbled notes on overheads instead of any Power Points, does not even hold OFFICE HOURS during the summer, does not care whether students understand the material or not, is reluctant to pause his already fast paced class to clarify and answer questions. AVOID!!!!!!!!!!!!

Worst teacher ever. He races through the information, is often not prepared, and has sloppy hand written overheads that are extremely hard to follow. I am extremely disappointed that he teaches this class. A&P is a hard but extremely interesting and he manages to make it terribly boring and frustrating. If you take this class,go elsewhere.

Professor Hayteas is clearly very intelligent and has a good working knowledge of his subject. His lectures are not designed to be entertaining and his exams are difficult. However, he does post practice questions and grades on a standard curve. This class requires lots of work and lots of effort. Between lecture and lab- hardest class ever.

Obviously a very intelligent man...but you miss out on so much of what he is teaching because he races through the lectures at such a pace that it's difficult to take notes or really learn anything. If he were to pause every now and again to check for understanding or renforce a point he's teaching would be a lot more effective. He seems bored.

I took the full anatomy sequence from Hayteas. He was clear on his topics; 99% of questions come from lectures. Told which sections to omit from the book. FOCUS ON LECTURE. In 301, i got an A in lecture and a D in lab and with a minimal curve got an A- in the class. Lecture exams, not labs, are the key to good grades in his class.

NO prepared, printed materials given or web posting of lecture notes. COMPLETELY oral lectures, with disorganized blackboard scrawlings. Exam questions were unpredictable and too detailed, including short answer questions. His dense, boring lectures include material not in the textbook, for which there is no glossary. Fooey!

I took the A&P series with Hayteas. I don't know why there are a lot of negative complaints about his tests being unpredictable, or students struggling. I went to class, read the chapters, and spent some time reviewing my notes. The result, A's all 3 terms. Some of the easiest upper division science A's as well.

I am a 4.0 student (or was). I have never studied harder for any class in my life. Got an A in lab, and D in lecture so didn't pass the class. Hayteas has certainly lost his passion for teaching & students. Lectures are horrendously boring yet intensely packed with information, test are unpredictably impossible (couldn't even find answers with book

I read the assigned chapters, studied the material, and had a solid grasp of the concepts covered. However this did not translate into success in the class; the tests were outrageous and designed to trick the student. The lectures were straight out of the book. Huge waste of money. Worst teacher I've ever had, avoid at all costs!

Had a dry sense of humor, but that only went so far--Lectures were boring and very fast-paced. Seems to have no interest in helping students grasp the material. Completely unavailable to meet outside of class. Hard tests--answers not to be found in textbook. I enjoy anatomy, and expect it to be difficult--but would choose another instructor.

Take notes, take notes, take notes, study, study, study. He is not an easy professor and his lectures are so boring you will want to die. He mumbles a lot and his lectures are full of a lot of information. All of it is fair game too. I wouldn't say he is unfair but it is NOT an easy A or B or even C really especially if you don't put the time in

Folks...he is a solid professor. All professors, to some extent, cannot please the masses. His intentions are not to 'trick' anyone, they are to make sure the students have a working knowledge of the material. Study, but don't blame a professor for your lack of success being that you don't credit them when you succeed.

The teacher that I liked the least… Nicely stating it. Should not be teaching. Boring, and does not know the subject well. Every time I asked a question after class, he said he had to look it up.

Hayteas is a very hard teacher. But, in reality if you can do well in his class then you are set. The A&P series is supposed to be hard, only the serious students will do well. I can comprehend the complaints about him, but OHSU and most other universities respect the PSU biology program the most, and there is a reason for it.

Yes this guy is tough, but his lectures are quite clear and his notorious tests truly separate out the creme. Someone (out of 300) always gets an "A" so you know its not impossible. Face it, A&P is for "weeding out" people who aren't going to make it as doctors, nurses or other health professionals anyway. My verdict: harsh but fair.

Well what hasn't been said about this guy? He really is TOUGH. If you enjoy punishing yourself, by all means take his class. Otherwise, avoid like the plague. Lectures are beyond the grasp of the students, the tests are no where near the material, everything is chaos.

THIS TEACHER IS BY FAR THE TOUGHEST TEACHER I HAVE EVER HAD. HIS TESTS ARE AN INJUSTICE TO WHAT YOU REALLY KNOW AND UNDERSTAND ABOUT THE SUBJECT. THAT IS WHY HIS TRICK TESTS HURT SO BAD, BECAUSE YOU KNOW THE MATERIAL, THE TESTS JUST DON'T SHOW IT THOUGH. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!
