Comment:
Aagesen definitely isn't for everyone; his jokes can definitely fall outside someone else's sense of humor but he does what he can to lighten up his lectures, which are information heavy and so useful that I only picked up the textbook for figures in labs. Great guy, super nice and not the least bit condescending.

His lectures are interesting because he's so energetic and funny. He's SUCH a nice and caring guy, loves what he does and is so helpful. The material is very hard if you aren't naturally good at it, so you have to go to class everyday. Tests are based off his lectures completely. You have to study a lot and the tests are somewhat detailed.

Aagesen is a nice person, and he has interesting stories. But hes a terrible professor. His lectures are poorly structured and presented on an outdated overhead projector. He spends a lot of time talking about his personal life rather than teaching the material. His tests usually include trick questions. He isn't good at answering emails, either.

I wouldnt take this class if you have trouble paying attention in lecture. You have to take really good notes and pay attention to detail in order to do well on the tests. The test questions are easy but some of them are random fun facts you wouldnt expect to see on a test. Other than that the papers and group assignments are easy

attendance is not mandatory but definitely GO TO EVERY CLASS. He does in class activities that only require participation and he will give you 10 extra points somewhere if you're present for all of them. Also everything you need for the test is only said in class. Cool guy, go to his office hours and get to know him. Youll be rewarded for it

Uses class as a platform to talk about his own travels and wastes half the time on anecdotes, but tests are actually difficult. Took the class expecting that it would be about how Latin America's geography impacted its development; nope. Favorite quote: "Published a paper on that in a pretty respected journal. Wouldn't see me doing that now."

He is an overall great professor and great person. He makes the subject fairly easy to understand and is very clear with his class instructions. It's best to visit him in his office hours if you have any questions about material on exams or lab quizes. Highly recommend taking a class with him.

Aagesen is one of my favorite profs at Geneseo. I always enjoy his lectures and really respect him as a person. I have had to work very hard to do well in his classes, but it's very rewarding when you do! Although I am not a GEOG major, I have continued to take classes with him just bc of how great he is.

The class consist of him talking and showing blurring info, on an outdated overhead. This is the only time in the class you will receive any useful information. He then goes over power point slides of pictures of his past adventures that don't relate to the class. It was hard to do well in this class because it's difficult to get the info you need.

Aagesen is one of the most caring professors you'll ever have, and definitely one of the best traveled. His course was interesting, but do not ever miss unless you have someone to take reliable notes. His tests are extremely difficult to do well on, even if you feel good after taking one. He's awesome, but this class in not an easy A.

Aagesen is fantastic! He is very knowledgeable about his field and excited for you to learn about it too. The tests are somewhat difficult, but if you come to class you can do just fine. He's very personable and loves to tell stories of his travels. I went into the class thinking about the possibility of majoring in geography and came out certain!

Aagesen I a great man. As a person, he is the best. As a teacher, its more tougher. There are only 3 test and that is the only thing that your grade is based on. He's teaching skills are not the best, he uses pictures to explain things. If you go to him during office hour he will help you a lot more.

He's a chill guy, because he doesn't teach. Just shows pictures of his adventures around the world. His tests are on all the things he didn't get around to teaching which is why they're impossible. Have to use the textbook for exams.

Lively, nice guy. Lots of stories. Funny. Has a few writing assignments, but they're fairly simple and straightforward. But his tests are super tough. Like, you have to remember specific things he said once in a lecture two months ago. Take good notes. Study hard!

Aagesen is a nice guy. He knows his stuff really well, and has first-hand experience with a lot of the stuff he teaches. My biggest complaint is that his exams are incredibly difficult. Every single detail of his lectures are guaranteed to be on the exam. The final is especially crazy. He has no attendance policy, but I wouldn't skip class too much

Very clear and helpful. Gives handouts in the beginning of class with important info he touches on that day. Textbook is not necessary mostly, and when it is he tells you what to study from it. Gives a brief break in the middle of every lecture, and is a very genuine guy who is passionate about his field.
