Comment:

Beall isn't the most exciting teacher, but he gives you all the information you need without overloading information on you. He doesn't make you do any unnecessary work. Biology is challenging in general. Most important thing: know exactly what he wants for the lab reports. Seriously, bug him until you know you've covered everything!

Had him for GB3 lab. It was awful. He grades your papers as if he's a editor of a big time journal or something. The lab design is flawed and mundane. Teaches nothing about how to actually conduct an experiment. Stay away!!

He lectures in extreme detail like 1-2 hours each lab at least, but when it comes to writing reports he is extremely vague and changes what he wants you to do everytime you ask him. HE IS AN EXTREMELY HARD GRADER! Counts off spelling in lab practical exams.On a research paper, the highest grade he gave out was a C. He is nice but picky

This guy is a jerk. Told class to use wrong statistical test for our data on a lab report. Asked another prof for advice on the stats since Beall was never in his office during his office hours. Beall got mad that I used a test other than what he said to use, despite him saying to use the wrong one. Took a letter grade off my report.

Lab Instructor - VERY HARD GRADER even if you know the stuff. He will mark off even if you don't capitalize something! He will also tell you one thing about your lab report and then mark off points for it later. He knows his stuff, but doesn't really seem to CARE. The lab is pretty straightforward, but he grades so hard a good grade is difficult.

he is great. this is a teacher that if you just talk to him he will pass you. very down to earth. don't ****him off and youll be great. if he catches you talking in class, he wont hesitate to kick you out. but dont talk, youll learn a lot. just study the reviews in the book and youre golden

Excellent lectures! Also very helpful. He really knows cellular and microbiology. Medium difficulty tests. His test questions are VERY similar to the review problems at end of chapters! Do them and get the study guide that goes with the book. Then you will do fine on the tests. Don't sleep in class.

Beall is a nice guy and very interesting lectures, however his tests do not always match what the notes say and what he talks about in class, the tests are very difficult. If you're up for studying alot but enjoying the lectures, go for it.:)

the class sucks, but if you have to take it, take it with dr. beall. He's a really cool guy..just make sure you study a lot for the exams and go in depth in most areas. Ask him for help, it helps out a lot on exams.
