Comment:

Dr. Berman is a wonderful teacher and a very nice man. I took him for the entry level CSC class. You take a pretest prior to each section, i.e. word , powerpoint, excel, and access. If you are satisfied with your pretest grade, then you don't have to come to class during that section. Attendance is not mandatory and class is an easy GPA booster.

I had Berman for intro to comp sci 1, data structures, and programming languages. i see a lot of "he is easy" comments... keep in mind those students were in enrolled in CSC 105, a non-core comp sci class. the fact is you will not find a better teacher (and yes his classes are challenging).

CSC 121 is easy no matter who your professor is, but Dr. Berman does an excellent job of teaching the material. The tests are all paper and pencil, so you'll have know how to program without a computer's assistance. There's occasional homework, and lab attendance is mandatory. But honestly, I can't imagine how anyone could fail this class.

LITERALLY FREE CREDIT. It's pathetic how easy it is. You take a pretest(hard not to get 100 if you try) and test out of entire sections of the class. This = rare attendance..Maybe on average once every 2 weeks you go, for about.. maybe..10-30mins. You really only have to go for exams. Gives almost identical sample exams. Incredibly nice guy too.

Didn't touch the textbook once, but filled an entire notebook with class notes. Attendance isn't required outside of quiz/exam days, but it's very easy to fall behind since all the notes come from his lectures. Very generous with partial credit and very thorough in preparing you for the exams. The best math class I've had in a long time.

this teacher is seriously a babysitter. I think there are only about 8 mandatory days and they are all test days. wicked easy class. Just wish you could test out of it. waste of money and time for most people nowadays.

Great teacher! Explains material very clearly, helpful when asked questions, gives practice tests prior to the actual tests, available after class hours, and wants to see students succeed. Excellent class if you're looking to pursue other CSC courses or major.

He is more like a babysitter than a professor. He kind of just sits there and occasionally will even leave for long periods of time. If you have a friend taking this, take it with them because you can help each other on EVERYTHING. He is really nice though, just honestly doesn't "teach" you anything. All your assignments are on a computer program.

Greatest course I have taken, explained everything in a clear and concise manor. Taking CSC 133 with him gave me a great foundation for course I am taking now and I think he is the best instructor in the Computer Science Department.
